Why Farmville is so Popular Until Now

Updated on June 28, 2011

Why people loves to play Farmville (and even a lot). Here are some reasons why.

The monster Facebook continues to show off its cusp for greatness as its presence come to fore in the Internet realms. With its Farmville, which commands a mammoth following together with its other games that also perform incredibly well, Facebook is no doubt a phenomenal success. Facebook stalled itself as an immovable force. Farmville along with its companions in the gaming industry found no difficulty in luring gamers for it is loaded with features, gimmicks, innovations, and other forms of bright ideas that truly shatter competition with relative ease, dismantling them haplessly with its formidable arsenal on its war chest.

So why Farmville ticks, here are my observation after playing more than four months in this truly addictive game yet a great way of unwinding and relaxing from a hard day work, in my opinion, though:

1. Never ending fun and excitement. Farmville releases new things almost every week or every two weeks. The people behind the game mastered the art of attracting people to play the game and at the same time keeping them glued to their computer monitors by coming up with truly interesting items in the market place (new buildings, animals, trees, produce, decorations and many more), special promotions (just like for instance joining in Fans Club related to Farmville or becoming a fan of the game's sponsors, this moves will certainly help to get special items and even FV cash), new tasks to keep busy with, and unending yet thrilling twists, improvements whipped out every time (like issue on technical aspects such as fast and reliable downloading of the game), special items released when there is an special occasion to date and slew of other innovations that truly makes the game larger than life.

Zynga the maker of Farmville truly exhausts its resources to the fullest and they are successful doing that.

2. People are social in nature and Facebook knows well to keep them bonded altogether. Farmville is now a way of getting touch well with your partner, relatives, friends, colleagues and other acquaintances. Whoa, imagine what a gift especially the newly released ones could do to the receiver, hehehe, it gives an instant joy. Additionally, Farmville enable users to compete with themselves as this proves to be one of the motives of playing the game (such as leveling up higher or having the better or wealthier farm). Asking for gifts and help is common in Farmville. Thanks to the send and receive messages and chat features of Facebook, communications here is easily done.

With all of these huge activities going on here, there is no doubt that the phrase ‘no man is an island,’ hehehe, is very true, a testament of this is the Farmville, though.

3. Virtual success at all times. Oftentimes failures in real life would indeed make us sad and not contented, but someway somehow Farmville give us a way to get successful such as having the best looking farm, accomplishing some tasks, and purchasing expensive things here which are impossible to acquire in real life (well for many players including GeneralHowitzer, hehehe). Psychologically, Farmville help us to escape from realities in life as it aids us to get over with the present problems and stress, for several minutes to few hours.

4. For those bored at home, there are millions of them especially the housewives, is one of the group of people that definitely loves to play the game with gusto, to keep them busy or relax when they are done with the household chores. Hubbers Beth100 and ronytparagas' wife exemplifies the attributes of true blue fans of the game, nyahahaha…

Growing stronger each day with millions and millions of players worldwide on its fold, Farmville will continue to sit atop the pinnacle of greatness for they never waver in giving the public worthy of the price they pay to play the game: quality graphics, innocuous game, user-friendly, enjoying (even without violence and sex), and even generous in handing anyone well, say - virtual success.
