fire vs arcane mage 5.4

Updated on March 28, 2014

The Art of Mage-Craft

To being with, let's ask a question, "What's a Mage?", a Mage is a Wizard in other terms, they are Human's that possess the power to cast spells, they are the opposite of a Warlock.

Arcane Vs. Fire Vs. Frost?

We'll start with Frost to get it out of the way easily.

Frost:

Frost is a spec usually and commonly used in Player Versus Player (PvP)

The DPS (Damage Per Second) That frost can do is very limited as to do with Freezes, Freezes are what Frost Mage's are all about, they freeze enemies in place so that they are unable to attack. The same applies to a Boss, a Boss is a Humanoid, Creature, Beast or Dragonkin, in any Raid Instance, Dungeon, or Group, a Boss is immune to freezing, because, it would mess up the mechanic's of a raid fight, as well as possibly making a Boss too easy to kill, as in Term's of Frost Vs. Fire, Frost is not the way to go for PvE, on the other hand it is truely the #1 Spec for PvP encounters, it is nearly an invinsable spec that with the right gear, and with the right player is sure to be a winner.

Arcane:

Like most DPS classes, there's always one that has a high burst, high burst is when you do so much damage, you damage meter may go up to as high as you can dream, burst is particulary good for PvP, but also great for PvE, Arcane is a high burst spec, it revolves around having a lot of Mastery, which in this case Mastery is the best for Arcane, the more Mastery, the more damage you do. Spell that's included in a Mage's arsenal for high burst is called Cool Down's, Cool Down's are any spell that has a Global Cool Down, (i.e. 1-5 minutes or more) these spells for Arcane are, Mirror Image's, Time Warp, Presence of Mind, Arcane Power, Trinket's and more none class associated spells.

The Con's of Arcane are:

  • Low mana or low mana regeneration.

  • Mastery is never enough.

Onto Fire.

Fire:

Fire is a spec of DoT's, "DoT's", are Damage Over Time spell, anything that "ticks - inflicts damage over a set time", Fire is compromised of Crit Rating, or Critical Strike rating, Critical Strike is a damaging spell or attack that is unique to your regular damage, it is damage that is higher than you normal if not often damage, Crit for Fire is more than great, it's amazing, because everything is based off of it, the way Fire Mage's are designed is to be mobile, with a high damage constance, and ability to keep your enemy's health and abilities limited.

Fire can also be played in a PvP setting with other allies, or friends/players.

So which of these specs did you choose, let me know in the comment's section, now let's move on to the gemming, enchanting, and reforging, also spec's.
