World of Warcraft: Was Vanilla its golden age as a lot of players claim?
The original World of Warcraft, some say the best WoW game to date, some others deny it, and some others don't care and just like to play the game.
Now, let's talk about some facts. Raids WERE actually raids back then, with some of them needing 40 people to be able to actually try to defeat it. Bosses were quite challenging and it was a whole lot of fun in general.
Of course, it may not be that easy to firstly get together that many people, even while being on a guild since it can be quite complicated to get 40 people from around the world at the same time. Once you get them, the next big problem would be to be able to coordinate with all of them, that everyone knows their role and they're not screwing around. I don't mean you shouldn't have fun while raiding - in my opinion, it's best to joke around a little bit with everyone and take wipes as learning experiences, and not an oporttunity to rage quit on everyone, since at the end of the day, it's just a game. I guess that what I'm trying to say, is that it shouldn't be taken that seriously, but also not as a complete joke - it's not that for most people to die all the time, since I think most of us gamers like to win in videogames all the time.

Another cool aspect that the original WoW had, was that there was more incentive to do world-PvP. There was no resilience back then, hence even PvE-oriented players could try to PvP whenever they wanted to, without worrying about getting decimated while not being able to kill anyone due to their lack of PvP gear.
Even though there wasn't as much content as there is now (obviously, after 4 expansion sets), its things like that, that make "old" players miss those days so much. Maybe it's just nostalgia for some, or maybe it was the game mechanics, but as most things in life, it's a matter of taste and opinion. The only thing that is certain is that Vanilla was a VERY good game all-around.
