Xbox One

With the recent release of information for Microsoft's Xbox One, as well as it's competitor, Sony's Playstation 4, many gamers are excited that the next generation of gaming is officially on it's way. While the Xbox One had many disappointed at the initial revealing, it seems to be gaining some traction as we find out more and more about it. Here are some of the official system features we will find on the Xbox One:

  • 8-core x86 Processor
  • 8 GB of DDR3 RAM
  • Blu-Ray/DVD optical drive
  • 500 GB internal hard-drive
  • Kinect 2 Motion Control
  • Xbox Live subscription support
  • Voice commands
  • Internal game DVR
  • Skype cross-game chat
  • USB 3.0 ports
  • Gigabit ethernet/WiFi network support
  • HDMI input/output and optical output
  • BlueTooth 2.1 connectivity

While there will be no backwards compatibility support for Xbox and Xbox 360 games, Microsoft has announced that they will continue to offer support, updates, and new products for the Xbox 360 for at least the next few years.

One thing that had many fans discouraged was rumors that the Xbox One would always need internet connection in order to play any games. This is not true, although the system will require occasional internet 'check-ins' so to speak to keep using the system.

Xbox One games do require you to install the game to the hard-drive in order to play them. This means that you can also purchase full games online through the Xbox Store and simply download them to your hard-drive. A very positive aspect of this feature is that when a new game comes out, no more having to wait in line at midnight to catch the release, or wait a few weeks for stores to actually have stock available of the game, you can simply purchase it and download it immediately right to your console!

Xbox One Price

The official release price of the Xbox One is set at $499.99, a full one hundred dollars more than the release of the Playstation 4. In their defense, the Kinect 2 is a required bundle, which explains the main reason of the price difference.

One thing about gaming consoles that has always remained true though, is that the price is usually actually a great deal when you look at the cost of the technology put into these fast-computing machines. In fact, the reason Sony changed the design of the Playstation 3 so quick after it came out to the slim design instead of the 'fatboy' models, is because with the first style, they were selling every unit sold at a loss!

Xbox One Debut Games

An important factor to many regarding whether or not they will be purchasing the Xbox One as soon as it comes out is, of course, is the Xbox One release game titles. Which games will be available to as soon as the Xbox One comes out? Which games are going to be exclusive to the Xbox One console, and not available on the Sony Playstation 4 or Nintendo Wii U?

As of right now, here is a list of the games that will be available for the Xbox One on it's release date:

  • Forza Motorsport 5
  • Battlefield 4
  • Watch Dogs
  • Ryse: Son of Rome
  • Quantum Break
  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Dead Rising 3
  • Madden NFL 25
  • FIFA '14
  • Need for Speed Rivals
  • Kinect Sports: Rivals
  • Thief 4
  • NBA Live '14
  • Sunset Overdrive
  • Dying Light
  • UFC
  • Zoo Tycoon
  • Just Dance 2014
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • Destiny
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Kingdom Hearts III
  • Skylanders SWAP Force
  • Titanfall
  • The Crew
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

So here we have a few Xbox One exclusives, a few franchise continuations, a handful of brand new games, and even the now non-Playstation exclusive Metal Gear Solid V! Many of these games are certainly stirring up anxiousness in gamers.

See below for a short read on what we can expect as far as game pricing goes.

Xbox One Game Prices

A lot of rumors have been floating around, and I see new ones popping up every day, is that the pricing of the games for Xbox One will be more expensive than the normal $59.99 initial release price we have all been accustomed to for the last gaming generation. These are all false claims, the price of new games will remain at the $59.99 price tag, with the exception of special bundle or limited editions that some games like the 'Call of Duty' and 'Saint's Row' franchises have offered in the past.
