Xbox One Update Lets You Buzz Your Controller When It's Lost!
The October 2014 update has rolled out for the Xbox One. Among some cool new social features, the October update will send a signal to your controller to make it vibrate if your controller ever gets lost around the living room. Sounds simple, but this will become incredibly useful for those who have loads of controllers in their rooms!
New Xbox Snap features
Many Xbox One owners will tell you that the Snap feature is incredibly useful. The October update has made things easier for Snap users. Adding easier navigation, you can now double-tap the guide button while in Snap mode to open a new app in the Snap bar, and also close apps using this method. You will also be able to record game clips easier using the new Snap update.
The recording feature was a pain for people who did not previously own a Kinect. Microsoft have listened to player feedback on their website and have added this feature to make it easier for gamers to record clips.
Achievements and Friends
Players will now also be able to easily access their friends and Achievements. By simply double clicking the console's guide button, players will have easier access to these features.
Players can now reply to messages and check their friend's statuses while never leaving the game. All will be completed in a handy new snap feature.
Microsoft have added a feature where a player can see which of their friends have unlocked the same Achievements they have.
There's a new Gamer Score Leaderboard also with the update, which lets players compare their gamerscore with friends.
Do you think the vibration feature for lost controllers will be useful?
DLNA Support and SmartGlass update
The new update brings us DLNA support, letting Xbox One owners stream videos to the console via a computer. This includes MKV files. Players will also be able use the SmartGlass app on their mobile device to control TV, cable and satellite boxes.
So, in theory, players would be able to stream a video from their PC and control everything from their mobile device. It will be fun to experiment with for sure but I can't see this catching the world on fire.
