New Monster High Dolls - Character Dolls Inspired by Monsters

Monster High is a line of character fashion created by Garrett Sander and Kelly Rily. They have been produced by Mattel since 2010, although the initial line of Monster High dolls were actually made in 2007. In addition to a line of dolls, there are Monster High plush toys, stationary sets, journals, bags, and a variety of toys and electronics. There is also a web series inspired by the characters created for the doll line, as well as a series of books.

The Monster High dolls are character dolls inspired by monsters, monster movies, and horror, making them a unique twist on the typical teen fashion doll. Many of the characters are related to classic horror monsters, such as Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Mummy, Frankenstein's monster, zombies, vampires, witches and werewolves.

Each Monster High doll comes with the fashion doll, a "Monster High" pet accessory, a fashion or character accessory, a doll hairbrush, a doll stand and a miniature diary of the character.

Monster High Dolls are Unique

Freaky just got Fabulous!

One of the reasons these dolls are so unique is that they differ from the typical toy fashion doll by having a fun and freaky edge - hence the Monster High doll tagline, "Freaky just got Fabulous!" The dolls can be enjoyed by children who love horror flicks and scary stories, and who are looking for dolls with more interesting back stories than Barbie or Ken.

Many of the Monster High character dolls are related to famous monsters, giving children the ability to create stronger personalities and playtime storylines based on what they know about zombies, vampires, werewolves and other horror creatures.

The creators of the Monster High line have given each character their own unique personality, so that they do not appear as interchangeable or cookie cutter dolls. This is expressed even in the dolls themselves, who come with unique diaries with taglines that offer clues to their personalities! The dolls also have articulated limbs and are fully pose able, making for fun and unique play.

Monster High Dolls Are Popular

Another reason these dolls have gained in popularity is the decision to create definite characters for each doll. Children love to have favorites - whether it's a favorite singer in a band, favorite color, favorite movie character, or favorite Monster High doll - and allowing them to identify a particular favorite Monster High character will draw them into the Monster High world. A girl who prefers the zombie doll might wish to own the doll and any related products, such as journals, t-shirts or books. And because the dolls are also fashion oriented, they are not simply "creepy," but fashionably freaky!

Because the dolls are visually appealing, with unusually colored skin, colorful stitches, fangs, etc, they can also be enjoyed by doll collectors who enjoy collecting play line and fashion dolls for their shelves. The articulated limbs of the dolls are also popular with doll collectors who enjoy taking the dolls out of their boxes and displaying them in poses.

As more characters are created and explored, many more children will find something they enjoy and become invested in the Monster High doll line. Those that become invested in the characters will certainly be expected to enjoy Mattel's decisions to expand the line from dolls to other merchandise, such as tv shows, web series episodes, journals, t-shirts, books and more.
