It depends. Chance is the likelihood an event will occur otherwise known as possibility. The possibility a straight will occur with a one card draw is a possibility, however it depends on the cards played. That presents probability.
The likelihood an event will occur is narrowed by knowing the difference between the event itself and all events possible. That presents odds. Odds are the comparison of events occurring compared to events not occurring. Usually it is expressed as 3:4, which means 3 times it will occur, 4 times it will not, and there will be 7 events in all.
There there is skill. Skill is firstly knowing the odds. Secondly, it is playing the other players. Great skill is needed to pick up nuances, body language, and reading while listening to the other players. That is a learned skill much more than a gift. There are other skills too like knowing when to quit or fold. That is understanding oneself . . . completely.
