Lovely purple color and so delicate!
These unique perfume bottles are handmade in Egypt, by Egyptian artisans using the same glass blowing method known since the ancient times. They come in hundreds of beautiful shapes and colors and each piece is different and unique since they are all handmade.
I have been collecting these beautiful antique glass perfume bottles for years, ever since I saw them at the Egyptian Stand of the International Fair held in my city, and I knew I had to have them all!! Each one of them comes as a new surprise and I never miss the chance of buying one more every time I come across them.
Beautiful green and antique gold
All the glasswork featured in this lens is hand-made in Egypt using high quality pyrex glass and 24 kt gold. Every piece is first heated and shaped by hand, without any molds. After the first quality check, the pieces are hand-painted and heated for 5-6 hours in a high temperature oven to fix the colors. The pieces are then left to cool for 3-4 hours, gold plated and heated again in the oven for another 5-6 hours. After the second quality check for color matches, gold degree as well as any air bubbles that might be in the glass, each unique piece is ready to go on the market
Blown glass is a very ancient technique and it is believed that it was invented by the Ancient Egyptians. These unique mouth blown perfume bottles used to be found in the royal tombs inside the pyramids and the legend says that they were crafted in order to collect the tears of those mourning the death of the Pharaohs. They are still being made in exactly the same way as in the old times.
You can use these exquisitely crafted perfume bottles in a variety of ways. You can fill them with perfume or scented oils or bath fragrances, you can start a wonderful collection or just use them as unique ornaments. In my experience, if you choose to use them as collectibles, you should still fill them up with liquid, even plain water. The reason is that the glass is very lightweight and the larger sizes, especially animal shaped perfume bottles, tend to fall over quite easily if empty.
