Recently married on Sept. 8, 2017, Jason Ponic works in the exciting world of Hollywood film and television by day and writes by night.

Future Generation

For my 6th birthday, I received a gift from my dad. It was my very first Lego set, a Blacktron II set called Supernova II. It was a tiny set, only about fourteen or so pieces, but it became an avid part of my playtime. Ironically I would never own another Blacktron set. The series was discontinued only a short time later. But it set the stage for a Lego obsession that would last the duration of my life.

Officially called Blacktron Future Generation, Blacktron 2 was a continuation of the original Blacktron I series released in the 80s with updated graphics, color scheme and specialized pieces. Blacktron 2 became iconic for it's black/white design and neon green transparent trim. With over twice as many sets as its predecessor, Blacktron 2 defined many a 90s kid's Lego experience.
