Bright Butterfly Toys For Toddlers And Preschoolers

Updated on December 30, 2014

Colorful, Attractive Butterfly Toys

Butterflies are beautiful and surprisingly useful insects. Some look like flying flowers, and they come in a multitude of colors. Butterflies are useful, because they transfer pollen, and help our food to grow. They are attractive to young children because of their bright colors and gentle fluttering flight.

Children develop and grow at different rates, so I have taken that into account with the range of toys here. I hope your little girls and boys will be delighted with these cheerful and fun toys. I've also included a video of the Butterfly Colors Song, a great way to introduce children to colors.

I saw a poet chase a butterfly in a meadow. He put his net on a bench where a boy sat reading a book. It's a misfortune that it is usually the other way round.

— Karl Kraus

My intro photo shows a Toysmith Butterfly wind up. Children love the bright colors and flapping wings.

The Butterfly Colours Song

The Cat in the Hat talks about Butterflies

In this wonderful book, The Cat in the Hat helps Sally and Dick understand the miracle of the metamorphosis of an egg into a caterpillar, and eventually bright and colorful butterfly! Young readers will also discover how butterflies can be identified, as well as how they drink nectar, avoid being eaten by predators, and can see thousands of images at one time.

Little Tikes Butterfly Beach Sandbox & Wading Pool

This is a cool all-in-one sandbox and pool, in the unfolded wings of a butterfly. quite a large butterfly, in fact, at 64.2 inches in wingspan, 39 inches wide and 6 inches high. It has a colorful umbrella to help protect children from the sun. To keep the sand clean and protected from the elements, empty the pool side and flip it over, as a secure lid.

There are so few real butterflies for the kids to see anymore, that we almost need things made to resemble a butterfly.
