Candy Crush Saga - Tips, Cheats, Hints, Tricks, Strategy

Updated on February 18, 2014

Play Better Than Your Friends

I've been playing this game for over four months now and I have to confess that I'm a Candy Crush addict. If you're here because you have a question about this game, I will do my best to find you that solution. I will even show you a way to cheat this game a bit and gain extra lives without having to wait too long.

I will help make you a better player and be able to rush through a lot of levels and complete a full episode within a day. You will be able to catch up to all your friends and pass them if you just started playing this game. Let me run through a few things before I get into the good stuff.

Check out the strategy guide for Candy Crush Here

How is this game addicting?

This game kind of reminds me of an old school board game called Candy Land. What makes this game addicting is that you're playing with all of your friends either on Facebook, Iphone, Ipad or Android and all you want to do is surpass them and finish the game. You don't want to be left behind, trust me!

You know you're an addict when you're constantly asking for more lives or saying "Send me more lives" to your friends. Yes! This game limits you 5 lives and if you run out of lives, you either have to ask your friends for more lives, wait 30 minutes or use real money to buy extra lives. If you're like me who doesn't want to spend any money, you are constantly waiting for friends to give you lives to finally beat that level you've been stuck on for days.

Tip #1:

Master making striped and wrapped candies because later on they will require you to make a lot of them and switch them with each other. Learn to make them early so that you can pass a lot of levels much quicker.

Keep in mind that back then, I didn't have that many friends playing so I had to wait literally over a day and a half to get my tickets to proceed to the next episode. You definitely have an advantage now if you have a lot of friends playing this game. Now that I have a lot of friends playing, I'm rushing through a lot of levels.

Now that I have your attention!

If you answer YES to the following questions, you definitely came to the right place:

Are you here because...

- You're frustrated and stuck on a certain level or stage?

- You have no idea how to make a wrapped or striped candy and a chocolate ball?

- You don't know why when the stripped candy are created, it breaks horizontal or vertical?

- You've been stuck on a lvl for a week or more and wondering if this game is based on luck and the creator wants to you spend money?

- You are confused with time bombs, blocks, chocolate squares and all the extra obstacles each new episode has to offer?

- You are a candy crush addict?

- You just need help answering some questions?

It's very simple!!! Learn all the tips, strategies and hints that I will offer you and use this to become a much better player than most people playing right now. Please use the table of content to skip around if you're not interested in some of the topics I will be covering. Don't worry, I won't get mad if you skip to the very end and ask me direct questions.

This section is for beginners only! If you're not a beginner, proceed to the next section.

This is basically the layout of the board game on candy crush that you start out with. If you notice, there are 3 stars (red, blue, yellow stars) by each level or stage. The stars just means you've received enough points to pass the stage. Yes! This game is based on points and completing the objective. A one star is enough to move on to the next level and three stars being a very high scoring game.

As you can see, I scored 3 stars throughout episode one which completes where you see 3 question marks on a ticket looking platform. Since the first episode was easy, getting 3 stars wasn't a problem. From this point on, there are a lot of stages where I barely got a 1 star and it's a level I never want to play again. Those were the levels were I got really lucky and took over 50 tries to beat.

In this game, you need friends to play as well. In order to proceed to episode two, you need to get tickets from 3 other players who needs to be your friend on Facebook that was playing this game as well.

The objective of the game is easy. You just need to score enough points and finish the levels objective. You can score higher points by making special candies and creating more combos. The concept is just like any gem games we've played in the past.

How To Make a Striped, Wrapped Candy & Chocolate Ball

Believe it or not, I have some friends who has been playing for over a month and still don't know how to create a wrapped candy. Most people are catching on and know how to create a striped candy. In case you're confused what it is, I'll explain to you how to make these special moves.

In order to make a special striped candy, you have to match or connect four candies of the same color in a row. To activate it, you just have to match the special piece with two other candy of similar color like you've been doing this whole time.

To create a special wrapped candy, you need to match five candies of the same color in an L or T shape form. I find this more difficult because you have to figure out a way to set it up like this unlike the formation to create a striped candy, which is just a straight line.

By matching 5 candies of the same color in a row, you will create a special chocolate ball that has sprinkles on them. To activate it, you just need to switch this special piece with any candy you like and it will eliminate all the similar color immediately. For example if you switch this special piece with a red candy piece, all the red candy piece on the board will pop. This will be a very effective piece when you're trying to get rid of a stubborn jelly piece stuck at the corner of a level that happens to have the candy color that you need to burst that is placed on top of that jelly.

All of these special candy pieces should be mastered because later on, you are required to make these special pieces and match them together. This is when the game gets really hard to play!

For more detailed information about what I'm talking about, check out this strategy guide. You'll find tons of tips on how to become a better candy crusher. You'll find more cheats as well as how to reach the top by following three simple rules. You'll also have great instructions on how to beat level 65.

How to Make a Vertical/Horizontal Striped Candy

Surprisingly, some of my friends still don't know why a striped candy explodes vertically or horizontally. It's very simple. When you look at the striped candy, notice the lines on the candy. It's either going up/down or left/right. When the candy explodes, it will go the direction where the lines are pointing. Simple right?

Tip #2:

Mixing a vertical/horizontal striped candy with a chocolate ball is a very powerful move that creates all like colors of that striped candy into striped candy as well and it will take out a lot of candies and obstacles in the way. This special is best used on levels that has jelly pieces/obstacles.

If you're not sure how to create a vertical or horizontal striped candy, you're not alone. I had some friends telling me it's based on the color of the candy. This is not true at all.

In order to create a vertical or horizontal striped candy, it's all about how you connect that final piece of the connect four in order to create the striped candy. For example, if you're connecting four candies in a row bringing in that last candy going in either left/right or up/down, the lines of the candy will be based on that.

As you can see, when you bring down the candy, it creates a striped candy with lines going up/down. When you use this piece by matching with like colors, it will destroy the candies in that whole column.

In case you're confused what a vertical/horizontal striped candy is, it's when you take out a whole row or column of candies out when used. A very useful move when you need to take out a certain piece/jelly/block/chocolate on the board game.

How to Become a Better Player

1) Master Making Special Candies. One of the most important things you have to learn in the game is to be able to create striped and wrapped candy like no other. You might be able to get away with this for a lot of levels in the beginning, but when the objective of the level is to create special pieces, you have no choice but to learn.

The reason why it's so important that you learn how to make special candy is because when you switch special candy with other special candy, you get a powerful move that will help make your game a lot easier. The powerful moves are actually some of the objectives you need to do in order to beat the level. I know, I hate it!

2) Think Ahead. In order to create a lot of special moves you have to think ahead a few steps. If it's too hard for you, just thinking ahead a step or two is fine. By taking your time you'll be able to come up with better moves and be able to complete the level you're having a problem with.

I remember this one time I was helping a friend make a few wrapped candies and he was like, "Wow, I can't even think that far ahead." All I do is imagine the pieces falling after a match is made and see what I can do next from there.

You don't understand how many times when I was down to 3 moves left and thought I lost but by thinking a little bit, I was able to complete the level.

Cheat #1:

If you play candy crush on Ipad/Iphone as well as on Facebook, you have ten lives to mess around with. 5 lives on Facebook & 5 lives on Ipad/Iphone. If you do well on your Ipad/Iphone, all you need to do is Sync it with your Facebook Candy Crush game and you'll be ahead of the game. This can save you a lot of time by not having to wait for lives when you run out.

One of my favorite special is the Striped Candy Explosion. I'm sure it's not the name for it but that's what I'm going to call it and you can use the table above to see what I'm talking about. I like this special the most because it makes all the like colors become striped candy and

that red hat is something you don't have to worry about. It is just an indicator that it is you and not someone else. Hope that helps!

I play Candy Crush on my computer. Every so often when i click play, a round peppermint circle appears on the screen. What does this mean?

@rangingkelly: OK. That worked. (Thx!). But, how do I attach them here?

@rangingkelly: Yes. But since I'm not on facebook, mine is a grey silhouette instead of a pic. I'm still not sure why I have two (1 red, 1 blue). It is just me playing?!

@anonymous: try pressing on the circle button (home screen button) and the button on the top where you hold to turn off iphone at the same time, that should take a picture of your screen. I think I'm confused because of the terms that you are using. I never heard of hats before....

@rangingkelly: How do I do that on an IPhone? Both have red and white square outline like game app. Red is waiting at my current level. Blue is back at level 21... Grey silhouette is inside box. Hats are below.

I'm not sure this worked, so I'll try again. The hats are on the board game layout. Sometimes they are on the same level, sometimes not. What are they and how does red differ from blue?

hi! Thanks for the tips! I can't get to level 126 because evrytime i try to ask friends to help me unlock level 126, an error keeps occurring which says i should try again later. Is there a requirement needed to get to level 126 which i missed out on? Thanks!

@anonymous: no, 1 star is all you need. Getting 3 stars is to show off to your friends. There are some levels over 300 that are extremely hard, so 1 star is enough to make me happy.

    • profile image

      anonymous 4 years ago

Does it matter whether you get 1, 2 or 3 stars for any level? I know you need 1 to advance, but is there any advantage to re-doing a level to get 3 stars ?
