Car Crafts - Fun Ideas for Kids

Updated on July 19, 2017

Car Crafts With Paper Plates

Thrill your car loving kids with this paper plate car craft. Car crafts will keep kids occupied for a long time, they are fun, they are exciting, and they are also cheap.

To make the paper plate car in the picture you will need:

  • Paper Plates
  • Craft Paint
  • Construction Paper in Black & White
  • Scissors
  • A Black Marker
  • Craft Glue

The body of the car is made from a paper plate cut in half. Paint the plate and let it dry completely. (or you can use colored paper plates.) Cut some black circles and smaller white circles to make the tires. Draw some hubcaps on the tires with a black marker. Glue the black tires to the bottom of the car. Then glue the white circles onto the black circles. Draw a design on the car and it's done. Your kids are going to want to make a lot of these, so stock up on those paper plates.

Toilet Paper Roll Race Cars

These toilet paper roll race cars are another craft project that will delight your kids. You can use toilet paper tubes or craft rolls bought at the local craft supply store.

The materials you need to make these race cars are:

  • Craft Rolls or Toilet Paper Tubes
  • Construction Paper in Black & White
  • Craft Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Craft Glue
  • Scissors

Cut a small oval from the middle of each tube. Paint the toilet paper rolls with the craft paint and let them dry.

Cut out circles from the cardboard and from black and white construction paper. Glue the black circles onto the cardboard circles and then glue the white circles onto the black circles. Those are your tires.

Cut a couple pieces of paper cut in circles and squares to attach to the roll cars. Add a number to the circles and glue it onto the painted rolls. You can also make some designs by cutting the paper and gluing those into place on the rolls.

The cars need steering wheels so make them from construction paper and cardboard circles. Draw a steering wheel design onto those circles and glue them to the inside of the car. You can even cut out people shapes and color them in to give your car a driver.

Cute and easy, this is another simple project you can make with your kids.

Footprint Car Craft - Make A John Deere Tractor

You will need some construction paper and some craft paint, and a paintbrush, to make this gorgeous picture. I always love to make handprint and footprint crafts. I know I will keep them forever. These are some of my favorite art projects given to me by my kids and I am sure they will become the same thing to you.

Here is the list of materials you will need to make this kid's craft project:

  • Construction Paper
  • Craft Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • A Foot!

Cover your child's footprint in craft paint and have him or her stand on a piece of construction paper. Then, using the paintbrush, paint the tractor cab, the smoke pipe, the tires, and the surrounding landscape.

Let the kids use their imagination to create their own individual painting. Then hang it up and treasure it!

Construction Paper Cars And Stop Lights

To make these colorful cars with your kids you will need:

  • Assorted Colored Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

To make the street lights you will need:

  • Paper Towel Rolls
  • Black Construction Paper
  • Red, Green, & Yellow Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Draw a car shape, windows and all, on some colorful construction paper. Cut the shapes out, cut the windows out, and set the cars aside.

Cut out some rectangular shaped pieces to glue onto the inside of the cars so they cover the window holes. Cut out some colorful circles and make tires. Glue them onto the cars.

The stop lights are cardboard paper towel tubes covered in black paper. Cut some red, green, and yellow circles and glue them onto the paper towel rolls to make stop light signals.

This is a super easy craft that's fun and inexpensive. Your kids are going to love these ideas.

Car Covered Mirror

You can find lots of car craft ideas by clicking on the picture of the car mirror up above. This is a round mirror with lots of Hot Wheel cars glued to it and I think it looks great. This is an easy craft but it will add some real BANG to your child's bedroom.

What will you need? A round or rectangular mirror, glue, and lots of Hot Wheels to glue around the edge.

You can find a race track lamp shade, or a picture of your child's initial filled in with toy cars. Any car loving kid will really enjoy these craft and decorating ideas.
