The Eyes That Find

Hello. I'm charlino, the real person behind the avatar eyes. If you are interested in who I am online, you have found the right place to get to know me. However, I warn you - this little bio page of mine changes frequently. I've been an artist all my life, but it is never been easy for me to write about myself.

My Squidoo Experiment began as a blog with my eyes on the finds for a one of a kind doll artist's group on Yahoo called "VikisFinds.

When I first got to Squidoo, the lens avatar thing had me a bit confused. So, what came to mind first? The definition of a lens and what it does typically has a lot to do with what one sees. My lens is the world as seen through my eyes.

The eyes of my avatar happen to be those of a repainted doll I rescued. The doll now resides with a private collector.

OOAK Rescued Ideal Tammy Dolls

If you were lucky enough to have been born among the mass of baby boomers, you might remember all the cool toys we grew up with. I remember my brothers playing with GI Joe and I had my Barbie and Tammy dolls.

Over the years, I remember many of my friends talking about their childhood dolls after they grew up and left home. Some still had their dolls, others gave them away, sold them, or threw them away. The mere vision of the dolls being thrown away bothered me. So, over the years here and there I began a mission of collecting the battered Tammy dolls for the sole purpose of restoring them.

Dolls by Altona began as a way for me to share my art with fellow collectors of this unique doll. During this time, I've restored and sold over one hundred Tammy dolls, plus others that need a good home. Dolls by Altona on Squidoo is the home of my links to my home base, friends, and fellow collectors..

September 2014, Squidoo merged with HubPages to become one of the largest online content producers online today. Although the transition has been a little bumpy, my online adventure continues. This page will be updated to coincide with the changes - not only with the technical changes here, but also the update long overdue that is 'about me.'

Thank you for finding me interesting enough to take time out of your busy day to visit. Your kind words are always welcome here, and if you are a self representing artist -- you are welcome to leave a link to your web site here, too.

My dear! How did you arrive at your name of "charlino" ? Don't believe I've ever found the definitive answer on that. And, I sure do miss Ghoulardi! Been seeing a lot of boom booms lately.
