Princess Diana Postage Stamps and Covers - How much are they really worth

Princess Diana stamps
Princess Diana stamps

There are 2 types of postage stamps featuring princess Diana: official issues by authorized postal authorities and what philatelists call "Sand Dunes". Sand Dunes stamps have no postal values, They are pretty much just nice stickers. Sand Dunes are often refer to as "wallpaper".

Are princess Diana stamps worth a lot of money? Short answer is no. There is no rare Princess Diana stamps. Most of them (official and sand dune) were issued by the millions.

So, when adding to your collection, please don't spend too much on stamps. they are pretty, but cheap. Some unscrupulous sellers are trying to make a quick bucks on the back on Diana fans who are not stamp collectors. I am showing you a couple of stamps from my collection here to give you an idea on the price.

The grey Gibraltar souvenir sheet of 4 stamps is worth a maximum of 8$

Should I Buy Princess Diana Coins?

Yes of course, but....

Collecting Princess Diana coins can be rather expensive but let's be honest, those colorized commemorative coins are nice. Will they take value over the years? I doubt it. If you want to invest stick to real Gold and Silver Princess Diana coins. I am not saying don't buy anything else, but please don't expect colorized coins to rise much in value (if at all). They are beautiful pieces to own and make for a great collection.

Princess Diana Books and Magazines - Book: Diana - Collecting on a Princess

Princess Diana and Paris Match - Lady Diana in French magazines

Princess Diana was one of Paris Match favorite muse. She appeared on 56 Paris Match magazine front covers! But on the 10th anniversary of her death and what would have been her 50th birthday, she was no longer considered front cover worthy. Sadly.

How much are Paris Match magazines worth? Really they were not limited issues, so 2$ to 6$ in average. You can even find them much cheaper on auction if no one else bid on them.

Looking At Princess Diana Fashion

When it comes to easy going, but classy style, Princess Diana had all the bases covered. She was never extravagant, yet always remained deeply elegant. The clothing she wore portrayed a woman that knew where she was and where she was going. Princess Diana fashion trends will always be remembered because of the woman behind them.

The Memorable Gown

Most people remember Diana’s wedding gown more than any other garment she wore. The wonderment on everyone’s faces during her wedding due to her gown was phenomenal. However, the Princess wore some styles after being married that are still impacting the world of fashion today. The simple suits she wore have become a staple in every business woman’s wardrobe. Neat, short cut suits that were casual yet offered a look that could be worn in more formal occasions are the perfect addition to any wardrobe. These kinds of dresses were worn by Diana on several occasions.

World renowned couturiere Catherine Walker designed many of the gowns and other outfit the Princess wore. In fact, Princess Diana was buried in a gown she had purchased from Walker only a few weeks before her untimely death. Walker designed over 1,000 outfits for the Princess, always designing styles that were both unique and fashionable enough to be worn over and over again. The outfits the Princess wore showed who she was in many aspects, from colors to fit.

A Little Red

A red dress the Princess was photographed wearing in the weeks before she passed is a perfect example of the true Princess and her passionate personality. The dress was cut above the knee, was sleeveless in tank style and sported a small gold buckled belt. While this dress was extremely simple in its design, it spoke volumes of the woman wearing it. Clothing that allows you to be to the point without saying a word is the Princess Diana fashion she wore most often. The formal gowns the Princess wore also hinted sweet compassion in stately designs. Princess Diana will never be forgotten because of who she was, but her clothing and passion for great style set a fashion trend that is still going in circles of women all around the globe today.

Buying Princess Diana Autographs

Caveat Emptor

Buyer beware. Princess Diana autographs can be considered high end collectibles. Expensive. Because of her popularity, there is a load of fake autographs running around. If you plan on buying a Princess of Wales autograph you should buy it from a reputable Auction House. And know your stuff. I would never buy from eBay. Better pay a premium and have the real thing than be stuck with a worthless fake.

      I hope I know what I,m doing.

I was just waking up when I heard the talk on radio.

Into my head came the words (They were killed)

I have known things and seen spirits all my life and I am convinced that this was the case. By whom I don't know. I,m sorry but that's what I have always believed and will go on doing so.

I remember the day she passed like it was yesterday - was in the kitchen, had the TV on in there - and heard of the accident, and I remember leaning on the counter and being completely obsessed with the news and TV from that time until her funeral was over - was so sad, gosh I cried over that - probably because I had young sons too at that time, and my heart was breaking for them losing their mom

@anonymous: Some people buy what is called magazine clippings about their favorite celebrities: it's pages clipped from magazines. But usually these are sell in bigger lot, not just 1 article. You can have a look on eBay and see what sells (search for Princess Diana clippings). As for worth, magazine clippings are usually rather cheap, unless it's a big lot or includes some rather rare articles. But you can try on eBay.com (listing if free, you only pay a commission % if you actually sell your item).

I was just looking through some old Nation Geographic magazines that my husband found ready to be thrown into the garbage and I found where someone I clipped the article out of Family weekly about their marriage. It is dated July 26, 1981. Would this be worth anything or was it's value ruined because it was merely a portion of the newspaper and was folded?

I have never been affected by the death of someone famous as much as I was when Diana was murdered (yes, I said MURDERED)! The first I heard of it she was still alive but fighting to live, and then shortly after they announced her death. I admit it; I cried. What a tragic waste of a life that was destined for greater and greater acts of kindness towards humanity. I thank God her sons were old enough to still remember her, as they needed her more gentle approach to their upbringing.

Princess Diana had the ability to relate to many different kinds of people, but especially children and anyone disadvantaged in some way. She did great work for charity and I was pleased to see included a picture of her supporting the clearing of landmines, which have killed and horribly injured so many people.

a real tribute, I still remember where I was when I heard about her death. My partner at the time asked me why I was so shocked, after all "I did not know her personally, so why would it affect me"... That statement stayed with me forever...

Beautiful lens on the beautiful princess Diana. Though she was born as a commoner, all aspects of her were as beautiful and royal as herself.
