Facts About Be Amazing! Toys

  • Be Amazing! Toys was founded by Steve Spangler
  • Spangler is a TV personality, author, and science teacher
  • The Official Science Guy for the Ellen DeGeneres Show
  • The Geyer Tube is one of Spangler's most famous experiments

A Geyser Tube is an Easy Way to Create a Diet Soda Geyser

I bought the Be Amazing! Toys Geyser Tube for my daughter last year during a trip to the Great Lakes Science Center in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. As with most nine-year-olds, my daughter is very inquisitive and loves to see how things work. I remember being impressed with this experiment as a teenager in high school and I couldn't wait to see her face when the soda exploded in the air.

If you are a Newbie Geyser Creator...Here is What you Need to Know

If you want to gift the kids in your life with this cool science-inspired toy, there are a few things you need to know. You need the Mentos that come in the package to complete the experiment, so don't eat them all before you create your geyser. Next, this experiment works best with diet soda. If you are considering gifting a child with this fun toy, I would suggest adding a 2-liter bottle of diet soda to make the gift complete. Lastly, you must realize that (when done properly) this toy is going to create a huge mess. For this reason, it is imperative that it is done outside.

How the Geyser Tube Works

The brilliant part about this toy is that it is incredibly simple to use and is super fun at the same time. To begin you need the geyser tube, one of the three adjusters that come in the package, and a roll of Mentos. First, remove the cap of the 2-liter bottle and place the adapter and appropriate adjuster in the 2-liter bottle. It's up to you which adjuster you use, but the type of geyser that is created will depend on the type of adjuster you use. Some will create small fountains, and others will create geysers that will make you run for cover.

Use this Geyser Tube Time and Time Again

Although I have completed this experiment with my daughter several times, she loves it every single time. In fact, she still gets the same big smile and tries to run through the diet soda explosion before it dissipates each time we bust this toy out. For her, my nieces and nephews, and even a few grown-ups in my family, the Geyser Tube from Be Amazing! Toys is a fun experiment that just never gets old.

My daughter (6 years old) would LOVE this and think it's absolutely hilarious. We'll have to do it for science and/or just plain fun in the summertime.

I know some kids and some adults. After viewing the video, I'd definitely be doing this experiment outdoors.
