Wooden Dollhouse Kits

Updated on January 23, 2016

Real Good Toys Dollhouse Kits

Real Good Toys have been making wooden dollhouses since 1973 and they are renown for their quality and craftsmanship. The Real Good Toys dollhouses are among the most expensive available on the market but I can assure you that they are worth it These dollhouses are perfectly crafted miniatures of real house styles, with extreme attention to detail and finishing. They are definitely not meant as toys for very young children, as they can sometimes be rough or clumsy, while these dollhouses are really collector's items, heirloom pieces that you would want to pass down from one generation to the next.

With the Real Good Toys dollhouse kits you will never experience the frustration of trying to fit together warped or badly crafted wooden pieces, broken pieces that cannot be replaced, poor quality fittings and trimmings, but only the sheer delight of building a true miniature masterpiece.

Unless you have two left thumbs, I would definitely recommend buying the unfinished dollhouse kits over the pre-assembled dollhouses. Not only will you save a considerable amount of money, but you also be able to enjoy a really creative, fulfilling and fun activity of easily assembling and finishing these lovely miniature houses with your family.

If you are thinking of buying a dollhouse for an older child, over 5-6 years of age (or maybe for yourself?), you should definitely consider one of the options featured here.

The kit includes pre-assembled doors, windows, roof shigles, as well as a bundle of wooden brick for the foundation of the dollhouse. Available in the usual two construction options of 0.375 inch plywood or MDF.

All the Real Good Toys Dollhouse kits are unfinished and unpainted. Depending on the model and the size of the dollhouse, you are going to need approximately 20-40 hours in order to finish it. Necessary tools and supplies include a hammer, fine toothed saw, utility knife, glue, masking tape, sandpaper, paint, brushes, ruler, and brads.

All the Real Good Toys Dollhouse kits allow you to choose between two construction options: Either plywood or MDF, both 0.375 inch thick. I would recommend you choose MDF as it is sturdier, smoother, does not splinter and does not need sanding, as plywood might.

All the pieces are precision cut and include grooved inner walls for a perfect fit. Gingerbread and Trim Strips are supplied in easy to cut lengths.
