Where to Find Dragon Age Fanfiction

Updated on November 27, 2014

Now That You've Finished Your Dragon Age Game....

Don't you wonder what else happened? What went on before? What happened afterwords? What were the other characters doing in camp while you were out battling the darkspawn? Surely they weren't just standing in their spots at the campfire waiting for you to come back and speak to them. Many other people wondered the same thing, and they've decided to tell the stories that playing Dragon Age inspired in their imagination.

This lens will give you links to many fanfiction tales set in the Dragon Age world. Whether you're a fan of Awkward Alistair, or Mysterious Morrigan, you can find stories that focus on them.

Personally, I fell in love with Alistair, and I found many wonderful stories that developed his character even more.

Dragon Age Fanfiction

The story of Dragon Age has inspired the imaginations of a great number of people, who not only wondered what else happened, but decided that they would tell that tale. These stories are set in and around all of the Dragon Age stories, with various characters. Some stories follow the storyline of the game, telling the story in written form, some tell the stories of adventures in between the interludes that we play in the game, some are set before or after the game, and some tell an alternative story in the world of Dragon Age.

Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne
Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne

After his mother, the beloved Rebel Queen, is betrayed and murdered by her own faithless lords, young Maric becomes the leader of a rebel army attempting to free his nation from the control of a foreign tyrant. His countrymen live in fear; his commanders consider him untested; and his only allies are Loghain, a brash young outlaw who saved his life, and Rowan, the beautiful warrior maiden promised to him since birth. Surrounded by spies and traitors, Maric must find a way to not only survive but achieve his ultimate destiny: Ferelden's freedom and the return of his line to the stolen throne.

Dragon Age: The Calling
Dragon Age: The Calling

On the surface, the story seems simple. A King guides a motley crew of Grey Wardens through the treacherous Deep Roads to help them find a missing Grey Warden. But what it is, is so much more. It is about loss and regret, it is about trust and friendships. It is about how far a person will go to do the right thing, and how far a person will go to correct his or her mistakes. It leaves you with a feeling of uncomfortable uncertainty about the nature of evil and of good.

Dragon Age Volume 1

Hailed as "the RPG of the Decade" by PC Gamer magazine, Dragon Age: Origins has redefined the modern fantasy roleplaying game. Now, the innovative game from BioWare becomes the latest hit comic from EA Comics! In a time lost to history, a war ravaged the land. Mages, incredibly powerful wielders of magic, ruled the world through mastery of dark arts and forbidden spells. Their lust for power almost destroyed all existence, and unleashed an unholy pestilence, the Darkspawn, to plague mankind, trolls, faeries, and all the inhabitants of the realm. Now magic is carefully controlled, taught behind the sacred walls of the Circle of Magi, and monitored by the ever-vigilant Templars. It is in this arena that a new generation of Mages-in-training will arise - warriors of sorcery who will defy the rules of the Templars and change the course of the world forever!

At first, I thought Alistair was my favourite character but as Origins progressed I found him incredibly whiny for someone supposed to be a warrior adult. I think my favourite character from Origins is Zevran. He has a surprising amount of depth if you're willing to befriend him, has a witty sense of humour and is more than just an assassin or someone with sexual experience. Zevran is not even the huge nymphomaniac he would have you believe. His character is the most interesting to me but, to be honest, all the companions are worth interrogating.

      My Writing

I've ventured into the Dragon Age world a couple of times myself. Here's a link to my profile where the stories are listed.

      Dragon Age Movie..

Not only are there books available in the Dragon Age world, but there is now a movie. A companion to Dragon Age II, this movie follows Cassandra through a maze of treachery and deceit that goes to the highest levels.

Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

A decent movie, especially if you love the this universe.

(RE: my opinion vote - I should probably have used 'satyriasis' instead of 'nymphomaniac', but details, details...)

I'm addicted to the story of Dragon Age. I simply cannot get enough and I've discovered some great stories by visiting your lens - specifically on the Bioware forums, which I didn't expect. Thank you!

Have you heard that David Gaider is now writing a comic book series featuring Alistair, Isabella and Varric? It's available on DarkHorse. :)

Very good info here - I enjoy the world of Dragon Age, and certainly wouldn't mind revisiting it.
