In dungeon siege 3, Vera is the first mini-boss, and appears in the Stormsong Cavern quest. This quest involves the hero or heroine of Dungeon Siege 3 venturing into the depths of Stormsong Cavern and trying to rescue the other Legionnaires of Ehb who were captured in the Dungeon Siege 3 Burning of Montbarren Estate prologue.
To defeat Vera in the Stormsong Cavern using Anjali is challenging, especially at Hardcore level of difficulty. The entrance into the area where Vera is and where the Legionnaires are held is blocked off after a cut scene meaning Anjali is immediately surrounded by enemies and Vera, with no possibility of running back into the cavern and mounting an attack. To defeat Vera, one must survive the first few rounds. This includes running to the left of the cavern, where enemies are scarce. and avoiding Vera's scarlet ranged attacks. One hit from the ranged attacks and all will be almost lost, as each ranged attack takes away a lot of Anjali's hit points.
After positioning Anjali at the other end of the cavern beyond the big pit in the centre, then start taking out the cannon fodder type enemies, whilst all the time avoiding Vera's ranged attacks. The keys here are using Anjali's fire form and dishing out lots of fireballs, and using Aura of Immolation to incinerate any enemies that get too close.
Finally when Vera is left, advance towards her, but still keeping distance from her ranged attacks. One of Vera's other attacks is a knock down mini ranged attack that can take the hero lots of time to recover, time which the hero may not have. So avoid this at all costs. Once all of Vera's minions are taken out, it's a matter of concentrating firepower on Vera until she expires.

Dungeon Siege 3 Rewards for Defeating Vera
The rpg player is always interested in rewards, and the reward for defeating Vera for the solo player is the addition and ability of a companion to play alongside the hero. If the main hero is Anjali, then the companion first unlocked after defeating Vera in the Stormsong Cavern is Lucas Montbarren.
With two Legionnaires, the odds of saving Ehb becomes slightly better. If Anjali is the ranged attack which causes lingering fire damage, then Lucas Montbarren should be custom built to be the tank with the ability to dish out critical damage, and speedy damage.
