Follow Me Thomas
Thomas... Follow The Light!
My little boy loves Thomas and Friends. Before he had his fourth birthday, he looked at some toys that he might be interested in. Every time he saw a toy he'd exclaim "I want that for my birthday!" Then as Christmas was on it's way, I kept hearing "I want that for Christmas!" instead. One of the toys that he wanted (and received from Grandma) was Follow Me Thomas. Follow Me Thomas is a Thomas train that comes with a lamp. When you shine the lamp, Thomas will follow it.
The train is bigger than the wooden toys, Take-n-Play, or Trackmaster Thomas sets. It's good for kids ages 2 and up. If my boy's reaction to it is any indication of how other boys will like this toy, your boy will love it too. Follow Me Thomas
What's So Special About Follow Me Thomas?
There are many Thomas and Friends toys out there, so what is so special about Follow Me Thomas? Follow Me Thomas is about eight inches long and comes with two parts: Thomas the Tank Engine and a lamp. In Basic Play mode, Thomas will follow the light around the floor as the child directs the engine. Thomas can go backwards and forwards. Thomas also has a programmed mode where he will do figure 8s, zig zags, and circles. This toy also talks.
Kids love toys that move, and they especially love toys that they can guide. Unlike remote control toys that can be difficult for younger children to use, this toy can be used by kids that can shine a lantern - which is most of the children that will be interested in this toy.

My Family's Reaction to This Toy
My little boy received Follow Me Thomas for Christmas from my mom. It was the last one in the store. I know that they were hard to find; they've been jacking the price up on Amazon.com for those that can't find it in the stores but are willing to pay extra for it. Hopefully after the holidays they will get back in stock, because this is a great toy, and it's a shame that someone would have to pay $82 to buy it (my mom paid $29).
Anyway, my whole family thinks that this toy is great. My ds was shining the lamp around, and it took him a little while for him to figure out that he can make Thomas go backwards. 8 year old dd was borrowing the train from him. He took it to Grandmomz' house, and even she took a turn with it. He's had the chance to play with most of his toys today, but I think that he'll play with this one a lot. Especially since there's only two parts to it. I was able to get my little boy to put away all of the parts to his Thomas Trackmaster sets, the wooden train track, and the Thomas Legos that he received today, but he's still trying to learn the concept of putting away his toys before he gets out something else. This one is less likely to get lost.
I'll have to get some pictures up soon, but I'm really glad that I suggested this toy to my mom; it's also a good thing that she shops early, because I know she wouldn't be paying the current price for it.

What Are People Saying About This?
People that have already bought this toy for their child generally have positive things to say:
KYP in Colorado says about his son's reaction: "He loves shining the light and Thomas follows. It's like using a laser pointer and having a cat follow. Endless entertainment. " They have berber carpet in their house and it runs great, so if you were wondering about whether Thomas will work on carpet, he does.
Tkc in Texas says "It's great for young toddlers since the train is not controlled by a remote control. You just point and move the light and Thomas will follow the light." This reviewer adds that to use the programmed modes, you'll need quite a bit of floor space.
