Red Heart offers a huge selection of free patterns for just about any category you can dream up. The patterns all use their Red Heart yarn, but you can substitute by using the same weight. Red Heart is a less expensive yarn and is easy to find at most discount stores that carry craft supplies.
Sue offers the largest collection of free slipper patterns that I've found on the web.
