Furby Boom Review - The Cutest Gift

Updated on November 21, 2013

The Furby was originally released way back in 1998 and it was an instant success. As soon as the Furby came to market it was clear it was going to be a ‘classic’ toy of the future and it certainly has. Move on some 15 years to the present day where time and technology have moved on and so has the Furby. The new generation Furby, referred to as the Furby Boom, is awesome and I think this is going to be on the top of many gift lists over the up and coming months.

I have to admit that I fell in love with the furby when I was a kid and it was one of the coolest toys I ever had and I spent months and months with my cuddly Furby. By the time the updated Furbies were released I was too old for a Furby so I had only ever owned an original Furby.

When the Furby Boom was announced I was age to get one for my kids, in a bid to show them what awesome toys I had as I was growing up. The Furby Boom was released in 2012 and whilst I was going to buy my youngest one as a Christmas gift for that year, by the time I had made up my mind I was too late and they had all been snapped up.

There’s no denying the fact that Furbies are cute. The original Furby was cute and the Furby Boom is even cuter, what with its wide, flickering eyes and adorable expressions. There is nothing you can do but love a Furby, and when it starts to talk, sing and dance it just gets cuter. You can tickle him, shake him and pull his tail to interact with him. A Furby Boom is something that will provide months of entertainment, just like the original Furby.

In order to get the most out of a Furby Boom you need a mobile device and the Furby App. With the Furby Boom app you can control your Furby using an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. The only downside to the Furby Boom is that the App will only work with an iPad, iPod or iPhone so if you own an android device, Kindle or other type of tablet computer you won’t be able to take full advantage of the interactive side of the Furby Boom. That said, this is not such a bad thing because younger children won’t have the ability to use the Furby App.

One Furby is never enough and with the Furby Boom you can collect digital Furby eggs, Hatch them and bring up an entire virtual Furby family, which is really cool.

With the Furby Boom app you can keep an eye on your Furby Boom and make sure that he is healthy and ensure he gets all the shots, jabs and medicines he needs to remain healthy and in tip top condition. You can also feed him a variety of different foods (so he doesn’t get bored of the same thing), give him drinks and teach him to use the toilet. The modern Furby Boom is a great interactive experience that all kids will enjoy.

The Furby Boom is available in a variety of cute designs, including the Waves design (as pictured above), the Polka Dots design, pink and blue hearts design and the Zigzag stripes design.

So, would I recommend a Furby Boom? The answer to this is a definite yes and it makes a wonderful Christmas or birthday gift.
