Fusion Monsters

Updated on July 4, 2013

What Are Fusion Monsters

Before Synchro Monsters and XYZ Monsters, Fusion Monsters were a dominant group of monsters that could be played from the Extra Deck with the help of Polymerization and specific Fusion Materials. Fusion Monsters are old, but the tradition lives on. Fusion Monsters have been the blueprints for Synchro and XYZ Monsters similar to Blue-Eyes White Dragon and other dragon monsters. I will show you the Fusion Monsters that I believe are the best to add to your Deck if you have the Fusion Materials to do so.

Elemental Heroes

The Elemental Heroes are the most popular and most numerous Fusion Monsters ever. With a Fusion Monster for nearly every combination, Elemental Hero monsters were very popular for their Fusion Monsters. This is when Fusion Monsters reached their peak, but after the heroes, Fusion Monsters were quickly replaced by Stardust Dragon and the Synchro Monsters.

Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer

Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer is a Level 8 Fusion Monster that requires Elemental Hero Sparkman and Elemental Hero Phoenix Enforcer as the Fusion Materials. Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer has 2500 ATK and 2100 DEF, and it cannot be destroyed by battle. If you think 2500 ATK is too low or just right, then it just keeps on getting better because Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer gains 300 ATK for each Elemental Hero monster in your Graveyard.

Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman

Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman is the similar version of Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer. With 2500 ATK and 2100 DEF, Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman gains 300 ATK for each Elemental Hero monster in your Graveyard, but when Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman destroys an opponent's monster by battle, your opponent loses life points equal to the ATK of the destroyed monsters. Since 4 Elemental Hero monsters are required for the Fusion Summon of this card, Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman starts out with 3700 ATK, so destroying monsters isn't a problem for this card.

Cyber End Dragon

Cyber End Dragon is a Level 10 Fusion Monster with 4000 ATK and 2800 DEF that requires 3 Cyber Dragons as the Fusion Materials. Cyber End Dragon is stronger than almost all of the Monster Cards in the game, and since Cyber End Dragon inflicts piercing damage to your opponent, Cyber End Dragon will be able to do a lot of damage to your opponent.

Cyber Twin Dragon

Cyber Twin Dragon is a Level 8 Fusion Monster with 2800 ATK and 2600 DEF that can attack twice during the Battle Phase. If you only have 2 Cyber Dragons in your hand instead of 3 of them (for the Fusion Summoning of Cyber End Dragon), you should consider Fusion Summoning Cyber Twin Dragon instead. Cyber Twin Dragon may not be able to inflict piercing damage, but attacking twice during the same Battle Phase will allow it to destroy 2 of your opponent's monsters by battle each turn instead of 1. Cyber Twin Dragon will eventually be able to attack your opponent's life points--twice in a row.

XYZ-Dragon Cannon

XYZ-Dragon Cannon is a Level 8 monster with 2800 ATK and 2600 DEF that can only be Fusion Summoned by banishing the Fusion Materials that you control on your side of the field. XYZ-Dragon Cannon cannot be Special Summoned from your Graveyard, but you can discard 1 card from your hand to destroy 1 card that your opponent controls. You can keep on discarding cards from your hand to destroy more cards on your opponent's side of the field.

Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer is an amazing card that cannot be destroyed by battle period. While protected by this effect, Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer gains 300 ATK for each Elemental Hero monster in your Graveyard. In order to Fusion Summon Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer, you need a total of 4 Elemental Hero monsters that all go to your Graveyard. So, Elemental Hero Shining Phoenix Enforcer starts out with 3700 ATK which can destroy anything in its path.
