DayZ - Multiplayer Survival Horror Video Game

DayZ is a multiplayer open world survival horror video game that has garnered critical acclaim for its unique elements and overall amazing gameplay. It started as an ARMA 2 mod, in which the player is taken to the post-Soviet state of Chernarus, where a virus caused the majority of the population to turn into zombies. The player needs to find ways to survive the zombie apocalypse, scavenging supplies and medicines and slaying zombies and other characters.

Fans of Dayz are thrilled upon learning that a stand-alone version of the mod is currently in development. The game is set to be released on June 2013.

DayZ is widely regarded as the best zombie video game of all time. But there are other survival horror video games worth checking out. Here are alternatives to DayZ where you would find yourself looking for uncanny ways to survive.

Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid is a zombie survival RPG developed by The Indie Stone. In this game, you are taken to a post-apocalyptic zombie world where you need to survive for as long as you can. But no matter how hard you try, you will inevitably die.

The zombie infested Knox County is quarantined by the government, and you need to deal with things such as hunger, fatigue and pain to stay alive for as long as possible. In order to keep yourself alive, you must scavenge for supplies while avoiding the roaming zombies that lurk in every nook and cranny of the county.

You can choose between two game modes: story mode and sandbox. The story mode currently features only one story, with more coming in future updates. In the sandbox mode, the game is open-ended, and your sole objective is to survive.

Project Zomboid is a highly entertaining game. Although the graphics side of the game might not appeal to many, the gameplay more than makes up for it. Be sure to try the challenges that await you in Project Zomboid.

State of Decay

State of Decay is an open world zombie survival horror video game developed by Undead Labs. Unlike other zombie games, State of Decay focuses more on survival, evasion, and community building rather than actually slaying zombies.

The game is set in an open world, where zombies are a constant threat. The decisions you make have great impact on the outcome of events, so you need to be careful and plan very wisely. Decide where you need to set up a safe haven for you and others you have rescued. Form parties and gather resources to keep your group alive. Improve your defenses against the massive zombie invasions. You are always going to find yourself thinking of different strategies while playing State of Decay, providing you with hours upon hours of thrilling action.

Dead Island

Dead Island is an action role-playing survival horror video game developed by Techland. The game focuses on fighting zombies, mostly on melee combat.

The game is set in an open world divided by large areas. It is played from the first person perspective, and the gameplay revolves around killing zombies and finishing quests. You earn experience points by slaying enemies and completing objectives. Upon leveling up, you gain health, stamina and one skill point which you can invest in your skill tree. Zombies in Dead Island also have different abilities, so you need to find counters accordingly.

Although Dead Island doesn't put much emphasis on survival, the game is still very enjoyable because of its thrilling combat system and stunning graphics. Dead Island is certainly a must play game for all zombie game fans.

Rogue Survivor

Rogue Survivor is a free zombie survival roguelike sandbox game. In this game, you get to play as living or undead, and survive not only zombies but humans as well.

The game begins with your character waking up only to find himself in the midst of a gigantic chaos in the city. All you see are blazing cars, shattered glasses, and a few people who are uncharacteristically silent, as if the slightest of whispers would invite trouble. You then need to explore the world to look for weapons and food, all while avoiding zombies that hide in the shadows of the city. You must look for a shelter to keep you safe and build barricades to prevent zombies from invading while you sleep.

Rogue Survivor has a vast game world, and things are constantly happening. You must always be on the look out, as zombies are always going to try to hunt you down.

MineZ

If you are a Minecraft fan, then you must have heard of MineZ. It is a Minecraft mod that offers a unique gaming experience with its vast amount of features which are ever growing as updates are constantly added to the game.

Unlike other survival horror games where you just need to find supplies and kill zombies, MineZ requires you to be more strategic with your plans. Zombies pay close attention to how your character moves: If you move too fast, zombies immediately go to your last location and track you down. And don't bother trying to lose them in the waters because they are just as smart in the water as they are on land. Health regeneration is also disabled in MineZ, so looking for supplies is a must to recover your health and survive zombie attacks. PvP is enabled in MineZ if you're looking for some action but remember to make friends as well as you also need the help of others to ultimately survive.

MineZ looks interesting since I am a Minecraft fan as well.

Definitely my vote is going towards State of Decay though, I feel like it doesn't get enough love in the gaming community and I don't really see why, I love it and don't see anything bad about the game at all.

      3. MineZ- Pros- Free aslong as you have Minecraft. Cons- Pay To Win, Like WarZ

      2. Dead State- I Can't Add To Much Because it isn't out yet

1."TheDarkProject"- The Game isn't Released until 2014 and it hasn't got an Official Name
