Five Games Like Monster Hunter
Games Like Monster Hunter
If you're like me, you can't get enough of the Monster Hunter games. For a long time, it seemed like there were no games that even came close to Monster Hunter gameplay.
For every great game, there is another game that is similar. I figured that there had to be a game somewhere that is as fun as Monster Hunter.
Luckily, I was right. There are lot of great massively multi-player online games (MMOs) out at the moment and I managed to find some games on various systems that live up to the excitement of Monster Hunter.
Check out the list below and let me know in the comments what your favorite Monster Hunter alternative is.
Gods Eater Burst PSP Review
Gods Eater Burst is a fun alternative to Monster Hunter. You get to battle against some gigantic creatures with an impressive array of weapons. One thing that I find really cool about this game is the ability to use both a sword and gun in the game. As you attack, your power builds up on a meter, which will allows you to use your gun.
You can also move freely around the battlefield without any annoying loading times.
The graphics look pretty great and the battles feel a little different each time. All in all, Gods Eater Burst a great alternative for those that need a Monster Hunter fix.

Lord of Arcana Gameplay
Lord of Arcana is another PSP game that resembles Monster Hunter. I don't find the combat as interesting as Gods Eater Burst, but that's probably due to playing this game directly afterwards. Loading times definitely take up more time with this game.
This game does, however, have some awesome gear to collect and gets a lot more interesting and fun as you become more powerful.
Lord of Arcana won't appeal to everyone, but for Monster Hunter fans, it's just right. If you enjoy collecting, fighting, and grinding, then you should definitely pick up this game.

Hunter Blade Trailer
Hunter Blade has been getting kicked in the balls since it came out. It's been classed as a "shameless Monster Hunter clone." I don't see the problem with that.
Where I live, we don't get as many Monster Hunter games as gamers in Japan do, so if someone else is going to create a game that has similar gameplay, I'll play it!
Hunter Blade is a free MMORPG that pits you against various snarling animal-like creatures. The combat is quite tactical, so it's no ordinary hack-and-slash. The graphics aren't spectacular, but they are nice (remember: this game is FREE).
This game has pretty much every feature of Monster Hunter but still has its own fun factor. If you're looking for a decent alternative, here it is.
- DualCore 2.4Ghz CPU
- 2GB of RAM
- 256MB Graphics card
Dragon's Dogma Review
The PS3 version of Dragon's Dogma looks absolutely incredible. The game has a great atmosphere that really draws you in. There's always something that'll surprise you and keep you on the edge of your seat.
The game's movement feels a little clunky, like Dark Souls, but the combat is very impressive. The fights alone make this game a "must-have," and it's been said that this game also has the best boss fights seen in any RPG so far.
Besides having to backtrack every now and again (which I hate), the overall game was worth every cent. Be prepared for some epic battles and unforgettable moments.
Dragon's Dogma is only available on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Soul Sacrifice Gameplay
Soul Sacrifice has received rave reviews since its release in early 2013. The game caught my eye as it's made by Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man (a favorite of mine). I was hoping that Soul Sacrifice would live up to his impressive reputation.
The game is awesome. The graphics are jaw-dropping and the action is fluid and intense. And the abilities and magic are very impressive.
