New games in 2017 include many favorite games such as The Legend of Zelda or Call of Duty with games from Nintendo Switch dominating even games such as Pokemon Go. New console games such Nintendo Switch, PS4 Pro or Xbox One S dominate this year's games.

If you want to play with others it is best to buy consoles such as Xbox or PS4. It is worthwhile to consider what attracts you thematically, such as open world games, role playing, puzzle solving or action adventure games.

Games such as Halo, Gears of War, Crackdown or Lost Odyssey can only be played on Xbox. Mario games or Zelda can only be played on Wii. Grand Theft Auto V has been designed for Xbox, but it can also be played on PS3. Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, and Lara Croft are multiplatform games.

Another criterion of how to pick up a suitable game is whether you prefer console or other type of gaming such as PC gaming, online gaming or mobile gaming.

      I've never been an online gamer. I used to be a major PC gamer, but my PC is so old, and today's games are so graphics intensive, I just can't deal with the hardware issues. The consoles are just so much easier. Plug and play. Great article!
