Of course, my Grandma and her sister would have to be the queens, with their sons acting the kings. My sisters and I, along with our cousins, would be the rooks, bishops and knights, with our children acting the part of the pawns.
I imagine the fun we would have while arguing over what our next move should be and who we should knock off the board next would keep us entertained for hours!

To me, these chess pieces are the perfect size for a children's birthday party. They aren't so big that the little ones can't pick them up, and they are't so small that the older kids tower over them. If it's a large party, each child could be assigned a certain chessman to move. If it's a smaller party, the kids could just take turns playing.
These giant chess pieces are 25" tall and made of durable lightweight plastic. The screw in bottom lets you add water or sand for heavier chess pieces. This chess set only includes the chess pieces, but you can buy the giant chess board down below.

I taught my son to play chess when he was 4.
