The FASTLANE 9.6V Battery Pack Gave My Old RC Truck New Life!

Updated on September 6, 2014

My old New Bright Ford F150 RC (Radio Controlled) truck was not as tough as it used to be in maneuvering our front yard and the battery life was getting very short. I was given this RC truck as a Christmas present from my wife in 2003  and it has provided me many years of enjoyment. When my daughter was young and still into Sesame Street, I removed the faux spare tire from the truck bed and placed a small Elmo stuffed animal in it. Watching Elmo ride in back of the RC truck made my daughter laugh with glee.

I like my RC truck but did not want to throw a lot of money at it as it is over 10 years old! After some searching on Amazon, I came across the Fast Lane 9.6 Volt Rechargeable Battery Pack for a little under 10 dollars. This was exactly the price point I was looking for in my RC truck renovation! Fast Lane is an exclusive brand name used by Toys-R-Us for its line of RC vehicles, slot cars, and generally all automotive toys.

With the magic of Amazon Prime, the Fast Lane 9.6 Rechargeable Battery Pack arrived in two days after I ordered it. It came packaged in a plastic blister pack like you would find in any retail store and included proper charging and maintenance instructions. The replacement battery pack has the exact same physical dimensions, connector,  battery technology (nickel–metal hydride), and Amp-hour rating as the original battery pack.  After a couple hours of charging it was ready to go!

With the addition of the new battery pack, my RC truck is once again functioning with the speed and agility it had when it was new! Who knows, maybe Elmo would like to ride again like old times.
