Top Wii Accessories

Updated on August 20, 2014

Controllers, Addons, Batteries and more...

With the huge popularity of the Nintendo Wii games console, there are now a variety of Wii Accessories available to make playing on it even more enjoyable. Here are just a few of the best accessories that you can buy for your Wii.

New Wii Fit Plus - with Wii Balance Board

Get a great workout right in your home without going to the gym. Nintendo Wii Fit with Wii Balance Board turns your living room into a fitness center for the whole family. Family members will have fun getting a workout, and talking about and comparing their results and progress on a new channel on the Wii Menu.

  • Aerobic Exercise - 10-minute exercises that are designed to get your heart pumping
  • Muscle Conditioning - Controlled motions using arms, legs and other body parts
  • Yoga Poses - Classic poses that focus on balance and stretching
  • Balance Games - Fun activities, such as ski jumping and heading soccer balls, that challenge the player's overall body balance.
The new Wii Fit Plus offers a range of new features and enhancements to help players reinvigorate their workouts, along with exercises and balance games designed to keep them fun.

2GB SD Card

An SD card will not only give you more space but also allows you to save your games. They are quite easy to find and a good size would probably be the 2 GB card.

These go for about $25-$30 and carry plenty of space. In addition to this, you can always erase it if you wanted to and then simply reuse it.

Batteries and Chargers - Keep your WiiMotes alive!

Because the Wii uses wireless controllers, this also means that it requires the use of batteries. Now, instead of purchasing batteries that die and then need to be thrown away, it's best to simply buy rechargeable batteries and a battery charger. This will save you a lot of money in the long run.

GameCube Accessories

Play Your Old GameCube Games

Memory cards for Nintendo GameCube.

The Wii is actually backwards compatible with GameCube software titles. In order to support the software titles, you can purchase additional memory cards which will allow you to save your games. This is also a great money saver considering that GameCube games can be found for quite cheap. You can probably find these memory cards for around $25 or less.

Controllers for the GameCube.

As mentioned before, the Wii is backwards compatible with the GameCube. That being said, in order to play the GameCube software titles, you can not use a Wii controller, but a GameCube one instead. It is possible to use your existing GameCube controllers, but if you're controllers are anything like mine, they're pretty busted up. In that case, you can purchase a new one for about $25. For a couple dollars more, you can get a wireless Nintendo wave bird controller.

The Classic Controller is also ideal for playing some Wii game, such as Mario Kart.

2000 Wii Points

Wii Points allow you to purchase Wii virtual consoles games. This is done by going to the Wii shop channel to purchase the software titles through the Internet. Once done, the games will be downloaded directly to your Wii. In addition to the Wii points, you can also use your credit card to purchase software titles through the virtual console.

I just received the Wii exercise bike as a present and it isn't too bad - not a lot of games are compatible though. it comes with a game and mario kart works on it although you can wear yourself out pretty quickly if you're not fit to begin with... three guesses as to who stopped within three minutes of going round the track with Mario...

This is great. My nephew loves his Wii and lives on it. I have sprinkled a little angel dust on it today.

We just bought our first Wii and love it. We don't have much yet, but we really love the steering wheel and Mario Kart! Great selection of accessories. I can see this is going to get expensive :) Blessed
