Halo 4

Updated on December 20, 2014

The Beginning of a New Saga

Halo 4 picks up where Halo 3 left off, following Master Chief on a new epic adventure. It also starts a brand new "Reclaimer" trilogy, which will continue with Halo 5 and 6 in the future. The game is developed by 343 Industries, and published by Microsoft exclusively for the Xbox 360 console. It supports 1080p, split-screen, and online multiplayer. The latter requires a minimum of 8GB space (USB drive or Xbox HDD).

Game Features

The most interesting additions to the game

According to 343i, the game plays like other Halo titles, but with noticeable improvements in the graphics and audio departments. In other words, the first game in the Reclaimer Trilogy should deliver a smoother and more immersive experience. There also are some new features worth mentioning:

  • Epic story: Halo 4 is still primarily a first-person shooter, but the fourth installment in the main timeline is said to focus more on mystery and discovery. Set in a mysterious Forerunner planet, Master Chief will have to battle an ancient evil. And this is just the first of the three parts in the Reclaimer trilogy!
  • Spartan Ops: a completely separate co-op campaign that you can play with friends and compete with each other for the top score. These missions will be released every few weeks, each one continuing the story similarly to a TV show.
  • Infinity Multiplayer: new armor abilities, weapons, and vehicles, as well as completely re-designed multiplayer maps make for a better multiplayer experience on Xbox Live. Play online or locally using split-screen, and try new modes as well as the returning CTF (Capture The Flag).

Halo 4: Game of the Year Edition - Xbox 360

The story of Master Chief continues in a brand new Halo trilogy. An ancient evil related to the Forerunners threatens the very existence of humanity and the universe itself. It's up to the players to deal with this new danger and experience a new Halo adventure. Besides the epic single-player campaign, the game also features additional multiplayer modes and a new progression system, as well as a co-op campaign titled "Spartan Ops" which adds even more hours of gameplay to the already massive title.

The Game of the Year Edition includes lots of additional DLC like maps, armor and armor mods, avatar items, themes, and so on. Of course, instead of the retailer version, you can also download it on Xbox Live.

Reserving a copy of Halo 4 on Amazon would have gotten you this cool Web armor skin with a spider pattern. It is displayed on CIO armor in the image above. The "customizable" part means that you can change the colors of the skin. However, Amazon wasn't the only store offering exclusive preorder bonuses. See this list of Halo 4 armor skins for more information. Of course, since the game is already released, the bonuses aren't available anymore.
