How to Layer Farm Town Fields

Updated on March 23, 2011

This page is all about Farm Town crop layering.

I've done it to all my farms and before I got to the top, I was advancing a level a day. I hope they add levels soon! If you want to learn how to layer your crops and get twice as much out of your space you've come to the right place. This is a step by step guide to make layering super easy. -- Happy Farming --

Layering fields greatly increases your crop production - Crop production leads to facility production which equals fast advancement and your fellow farmers will

If you have several farms it's best to do one at a time. It's important to follow each step.

Please feel free to give me feedback (in the guestbook below). I want to make this clear and easy.

Step By Step How to - First you need a space without fields, so delete the used fields. Next click the offline symbol (it looks like a plug, see circle). It's g

Now open facebook in another tab. - The two pictured tabs are both open to Farm Town.

This can also be done by opening two sessions of the internet, but has not always worked for me with Internet Explorer (I like to call it exploder). I use Flock and it's fast and will allow two tabs to both be logged in to Facebook at the same time.

In the second tab, go to the same farm where you cleared a space to layer fields. - Take that farm offline too - with the offline button.

It's time to plow - go to the first farm and plow your fields. - Note where I started plowing in the picture - near the Hyacinth.

Now it's time to plow the farm in the second tab. - Make sure your plots start in a slightly different place (so they aren't directly on top of each other which

Notice I started a little more south of the Hyacinth this time.

**It won't look layered yet.**

After you've plowed both farms, click the second one back online & refresh your browser. - Go back to the first tab and click it back online too - Refresh a

Step back and admire your work!! - But only for a few seconds, you've got a lot of work to do now.

Happy farming!

Cool farms -

This is a little long, but silly enough to watch . . .

Has anyone ever hired a farmer who complains about their layered fields? I have! A few people have been nasty and said things like "you should delete all these layered fields and start over" or "I won't do layered farms, they slow down the server." (I'm pretty sure Slashkey only has ONE server . . . . .). Tell me your experiences. It's too bad there are crappy people who like to tell everyone else what to do. Did it never cross their pea sized minds that maybe the game makers built the possibility of layers into the game for the purpose of strategy? It's a game after all. I'm quite sure, that if they didn't want people to layer, they could figure out how to make it so it's not an option.

I don't mind layered farms so much, but when there is way too much on the farm, it can take me up to an hour just to harvest the three layered fields on one farm.

@linda-b-waterman: Hi Linda - I've only done this using Chrome and I do it in different tabs, not different windows. That is probably why it's not working. I hope this helps - Happy Farming!!

@anonymous: You have to make you own layered fields.

do you know anyone that will layer my fields

The farmer hiring should state up front that his/her farms are layered. That would save both people time and frustration. I know people who will do 3x but not 9x. I'm gonna miss her because I'm starting in on 9 layers. I found them not that difficult to harvest.

I agree with you. I'm sure Slashkey is not short on servers. Slashkey allows this and is constantly improving and expanding the game. This game is far superior to Farmville which has become somewhat insane with pop-ups and off-shoots far removed from farming. I purchase things from Farmtown with real money because I love the game and like the way they run it.

I agree with you. Farm Town has made it so there are some things that you can't gift to yourself, sheep and ducks are a couple.

This is the best web site for layering fields I've found so far. However, it won't let me open more than 1 extra tab. Can anyone tell me why?

These are the easiest directions I have seen. The developers do have several servers and layering does slow things down a bit. However the Farm Town developers have always been the best at listening to their users. They know a lot of users like layering and I am grateful that they are not actively blocking layering. (at least not yet - they may even be figuring out how to support it). If you don't have the tools it can be very hard to harvest a layered farm one plot at a time.I have all tools and enjoy working all jobs including layered farms. I am thinking about laying my next farm.

I personally like working on layered farms, they are a great way to earn cash although they do take a while. And now I have followed your instructions, I have my very own layered farm to annoy people with!!! haha Thanks for the tips.

Thanks so much. This was much easier than I thought it would be. I've asked several farmers with layers how to do it and they simply ignored me. Now I can get lots more wheat! I just can't seem to have enough. Thanks a million
