The Hunger Games Barbie Dolls

Updated on September 27, 2014

Yes! There ARE Barbies For Both the Hunger Games and Catching Fire

Meet Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire in The Hunger Games, in Barbie form from Mattel...and Katniss Everdeen from the Catching Fire movie and wait...there's a Peeta Mellark doll, and a Finnick Odair doll and a Effie Trinket doll and they're all great.

Modelled after The Hunger Games main character, this first Katnis Everdeen Barbie as shown here is a 'Collector' doll. That is, one that is created specifically for the adult collector, which seems appropriate given that The Hunger Games is not a children's book or movie. Other dolls in the Collector Series have included many super heroes, the Twilight characters and the cast of Mad Men.

That means that yes, there is a Barbie doll of Katniss Everdeen and her friends. Read on to learn more!

When Was The Katniss Everdeen Hunger Games Barbie Released?

The Katniss Everdeen Hunger Games Barbie doll was released on a pre-order basis the week of April 13, 2012 and was available for delivery on September 1, 2012. Now you can order your Katniss Barbie directly from Amazon by clicking right here. As always, any Amazon order worth $35 or more ships for FREE.

What Is The Hunger Games Barbie Like?

If you are concerned that Mattel might have dressed Barbie in a gown, which was a legitimate concern that some people had, you can relax. It turns out that Katniss Everdeen the Barbie doll appears exactly as Katniss Everdeen does during most of the story. Some consider her a near pefect replica. She is wearing a hooded jacket, a top and military-style pants that are a copy of the costume Jennifer Lawrence wore in the film when she appeared as Katniss. She also carries, of course, the mockingjay pin, bow, arrows and a quiver.

Designer Bill Green said, "Hopefully, Hunger Games fans can appreciate the attention to detail. The doll's minimalistic style and details - such as her loosely braided hair and makeup-free look - also really embody the heroic character Katniss."

Wow! The Katniss Everdeen Barbie will be popular for Christmas for sure - and popular with collectors year round! Amazing that a doll can be so popular that she is pre-sold months ahead of time!

It looks pretty cool to be honest. I love that Mattel has not girlified it.

That's quite a nice looking collectible figure, I must say. A great likeness to the film version of Katniss. I know some felt she was still "white-washed" from the book description of the character, but clearly they modeled this figure based on the actress in the movie. If I was still actively collecting action figures, I'd probably want one of these for sure!
