Kingdoms of Amalur Defeating Templar Octienne

In Kindgoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the gnomish templar Octienne is a devious schemer who hatched the Well of Souls project. The templar Octienne has asked the hero to look for the missing gnome Fomorous Hughes. The hero later discovers that Octienne has betrayed him, and confronts Octienne in the gnomish city. This will guide the hero with various tactics to defeat the templar Octienne and the various monsters along the way to complete this quest and advance to the second half of the game.

Kingdoms of Amalur Betrayal by Templar Octienne

In Kingdoms of Amalur, the hero heads to Saltwater Caverns to look for Fomorous Hughes. The Saltwater Caverns and this terrains of the Red Marches is filled with sons of Laz, and Cave Murghans, led by a Cave Banshaen. The cave banshaen is especially difficult to defeat, as it has the ability to summon more cave murghans. The key is to concentrate all firepower on the cave banshaen, and then finish off the cave murghans. Later, in the Saltwater Caverns, the hero encounters lots of sons of Laz. Use area effect attacks to eliminate them and proceed deeper to find Fomorous Hughes. As the hero finds Hughes, they are attacked by White Palm Assassins. If the hero is of the sorcery and finesse type, then use shadow flare and dagger strikes to eliminate these assassins for added dramatic effects. Pick up a note from one of the fallen white palm assassins to discover the betrayal by Templar Octienne.

Kingdoms of Amalur Tactics to Defeat Octienne

In Kingdoms of Amalur, the events that transpire after the betrayal by Templar Octienne eventually leads to a fight with Templar Octienne after a verbal confrontation with him. The hero will be taken by surprise as Templar Octienne suddenly departs the conversation and the hero is attacked by white palm assassins. Finish them and pursue Templar Octienne.

The fight with Templar Octienne takes place along a very long walkway. Along the way, the hero has to fight off assassins along the walkway and on the sidewalk. Tactics for this fight include -

  • bring lots of healing and mana potions for this fight, as this fight will continuously deplete the hero's health and mana along the long walkway
  • whenever the hero can reach out and attack Templar Octienne, hit out with as much and use as many damaging attack moves as possible; this will reduce Templar Octienne's health
  • and then Templar Octienne will start resting up within a force field, whilst his assassin minions will attack the hero on the outside. One can throw a few ranged attacks at Templar Octienne but it is recommended that the hero finishes off the assassin minions as this will cause the force field to come down and allow further advancement along the walkway
  • ignore the assassins on the sidewalk, as they are difficult to reach, and the key here is to reduce Octienne's health bar as much as possible
  • using the above tactics, with some patience and perseverance, Octienne will be defeated. If the hero has also completed the Siege Breaker quest, then it's time to head south from Mel Senshir to find Ventrinio
