Klingon Ship Overview

The Klingon word Qapla` roughly means "success." Success in Star Trek Online is not about having a flavor of the month (FoTM) build, rather its about maximizing your strengths and minimizing your weaknesses. Different play styles are definitely possible, whether you want to DPS, Tank, Heal, Crowd Control, or maybe a do a little bit of everything, I've got the info you need to maximize your success.

Star Trek Online Klingon Ship Classes:

Bird of Prey Class - Most Maneuverable Ship in the Game, Very Fast, Battle Cloak (All Except B'Rel), Extra Weapon Power

The Bird of Prey is an agile ship. Speed and maneuverability are its main advantages, it is one of the most flexible ships in the game and can cloak in the middle of battle. The Bird of Prey is a general purpose ship. At lower tiers it is one of the best ships in the game, easily beating any other ship, Federation or Klingon because of its unique Universal Bridge Officer stations.

Disadvantages: Low Hull Strength, Less Console, Bridge Officer, and Weapon Slots

Raptor Class - Extra Fire Power, Tactical Focused: Extra Tactical Consoles and Bridge Officers, Can Cloak outside of Battle, Extra Weapon Power

The Raptor class is somewhat equivalent to the Federation Escort class. It has the most tactical consoles and tactical bridge officers stations.

Battle Cruiser Class - Engineering Focused: Extra Engineering Consoles and Bridge Officers, Can Cloak Outside of Battle, Extra Weapon and Engine Power, Extra Hull and Shield Strength

The Battle Cruiser is the tank of the Klingon Fleet. This ship is loaded with Engineering bridge officer stations and consoles. At higher tiers these things are really difficult to kill when outfitted for survivability.

Some Other Thoughts

One last note, if your going to maximize your STO space PVP combat success then consider rolling an Alien Tactical Officer with the following traits space Traits: Accurate, Efficient Captain, Elusive, Warp Theorist. Scientists and Engineers can be equally successful, but the Tac Officer has a nice array of damage buffs/debuffs.

Bird of Prey, Norgh: Eagle

Commander

Although the Bird of Prey has little more than half the hull of the STO Klingon Battle Cruiser, you can easily outfit one of these such that it is nearly un-killable. The key to this build is decent resists, survival does still take a bit of skill, but shouldn't take much.

Recommended Weapons: (Fore) 3xDual Beam Array (Aft) 2xBeam Bank

Recommended Shields: Resiliant Shield Array [Cap]x2

Recommended Impulse Engines: Efficient Impulse Engines IV (Pretty Much the Best There is)

Engineering Consoles: 2xDiburnium Hull Plating (Resist Phaser/Disruptor Damage)

Tactical Consoles: 2xBeam ( or other Damage/Weapon Type) Consoles

Science Consoles: 1xInduction Stabilizer(+Deflector Field) Console

Stations:

Lt. Commander: (Engineer) Emergency Power To Shields I, Reverse Shield Polarity (RSP) I, Aux to Structural II

Lieutenant: (Engineer) Emergency Power To Shields I, RSP I

Lieutenant: (Science) Science Team I, Transfer Shield Strength II

Ensign: Polarize the Hull I

Base Power Settings (Attack Preset)

Weapons: 100 (120)

Shield: 25 (30)

Engine: 50

Aux: 25 (30)

NOTES: Always run with the engines at full throttle. With Engine Efficiency Rank 9 and Elusive your defense bonus will be over 60%. When flying a Bird of Prey even with a tough build like this, don't forget you can fly out of range and Battle Cloak. Just switch to the Engines Preset and/or hit Evasive Manuvers. (Don't forget to change your preset back once you are well out of range).

Weaknesses: Movement Debuffs will hurt the effectiveness of this build. Use Polarize Hull I to counter Tractor Beams. Plasma/Tetryon weapons may hurt a bit more. You can try to diversify your damage resist consoles to address this.

Bird of Prey, Ki'tang: Eagle II

Captain

If you liked my Bird of Prey Eagle Build, you will definitely want to check out my Captain (Tier 4) version.

Bird of Prey, Hegh'ta: Vulture

Brigadier/Major General

The Vulture is the Tier 5 version of my Eagle II with a few subtle differences. The forward facing dual beams get replaced with regular beam arrays and a quantum torpedo launcher is thrown in. To get the most out of this configuration you should circle your opponent and keep them to your side. Then when the enemies shield drops turn towards them, pop HY3 and fire your quantum.

Recommended Captain: Tactical

Recommended Weapons: (Fore) 3xBeam Bank, 1xQuantum Launcher | (Aft) 2xBeam Bank

Recommended Shields: Resiliant Shield Array [Cap]x2

Recommended Impulse Engines: Efficient Impulse Engines IV (Pretty Much the Best There is)

Engineering Consoles: 2xNeutronium Hull Plating (Resist All Damage), 1xEPS Console

Tactical Consoles: 3xBeam ( or other Damage/Weapon Type) Consoles

Science Consoles: 2xHazard, 1xDeflector Field

Stations:

Commander: (Science) Science Team I, Transfer Shield Strength II, Hazard Emitters III, Feedback Pulse III (FBP III is optional use what you like.)

Lt. Commander: (Tactical) High Yield (HY) 1 (or whatever), Attack Pattern Delta (or Beam Overload II), High Yield III

Lieutenant: (Engineer) Emergency Power To Shields I, RSP I

Lieutenant: (Engineer) Emergency Power To Shields I, RSP I

Base Power Settings (Attack Preset)

Weapons: 100 (120)

Shield: 25 (30)

Engine: 50

Aux: 25 (30)

Note: While circling your enemy, avoid moving into the center of your opponents. The last thing you want is to be in range of several opponents in a Bird of Prey. Also, consider fighting from a distance, your much less likely to attract unwanted attention from 8km away.

Battle Cruiser, Negh'Var: Unkillable

BG/MG - For those that like to turtle.

Tired of being killed? The Negh'Var Unkillable build is so easy to keep alive, even a complete noob can do it.

Recommended Captain: Any

Recommended Weapons: (Fore) 2xTurret/Beam, 2xTorpedo Launcher (Aft) 3xTurret/Beam, 1xMines

Recommended Shields: Regenerative Shield Array [Reg]x2

Recommended Impulse Engines: Efficient Impulse Engines IV (What Else?)

Recommended Deflector: Any +Deflector/+Deflector Field

Engineering Consoles: 3xNeutronium Hull Plating (Resist All Damage), 1xEPS Console

Tactical Consoles: 3xBeam/Cannon ( or other Damage/Weapon Type) Consoles

Science Consoles: 2xDeflector Field

Stations:

Commander - Engineer: Engineering Team I, RSP I, Emergency Power to Shields III, Boarding Party III or Eject Warp Plasma III

Lt. Commander - Engineer: Engineering Team I, RSP, Emergency Power to Shields III

Lieutenant - Tactical: High Yield 1, Cannon Rapid Fire 1 or High Yield 2

Lieutenant - Science: Transfer Shield Strength I, Transfer Shield Strength II

Ensign Engineer: Emergency Power Weapons/Engines/Aux I (for situational use)

Base Power Settings (Attack Preset)

Weapons: 100 (115)

Shield: 50 (55)

Engine: 25 (35)

Aux: 25 (30)

Base Power Settings (Defensive Preset)

Weapons: 65 (80)

Shield: 85 (90)

Engine: 25 (35)

Aux: 25 (30)

Note: Switch to defensive preset for tanking multiple tough opponents. A favorite of those who pride themselves in never being killed. If facing tough opponents your damage resists and massive shield regen will cause them to die of boredom.

Advice: This build is a favorite of many federation cruisers as well. If you believe you are facing this build my advice is to try and exit combat and go find a killable target. It is impossible to kill this ship in a 1v1 fight. Just ignore this person unless at least two or three other people are firing on em.

This was posted in September 2010.....so I reckon it is quite outdated. Nevertheless, some of the builds have interesting aspects that may be adaptable so I think I might have a dabble and see what I can come up with.

You have some problems here. The BOP Norgh has an Lt Cmdr, an Lt, and two Ensign stations, not two Lts. You require two Beam Banks, which I assume to be Dual Disruptor Beam Banks on the Aft but that weapon can not be loaded in that position. Assuming you've reversed the positions, why would you use a Beam Array on the aft instead of a Turret, which does a little less damage, but has a full 360* arc? You recommend an Induction Stabilizer for a Science Console, but there doesn't seem to be one in the game any more. Is it simply not available now, or is it called something else?
