Ladybugs are cute and colorful little creatures. These round, chubby critters, with their stubby antennae and legs are actually beetles who are helpful around the garden. Ladybugs will help to control aphid pests to protect your roses and vegetable plants like peas and broccoli.
Many ladybugs are red or orange with black dots - these bright colors warn predators that ladybugs don't taste good. Of course, with their bright coloration, babies and toddlers find ladybugs fascinating. Yes, I admit it, I'm a fan of ladybugs too, and this page is part of my series on cool ladybug toys.
These ladybug toys for perfect for babies and toddlers, up to 2 years, and will add color and cheer to any playroom. My personal favorite has to be the Wheely Bug - so much fun.

Ladybugs in the World
There are nearly 5000 different types of ladybugs living around the world. They can live anyway where there is food, except in the coldest places.
Ride-on Bug Toys
Ride-on toys are a great way of building a child's confidence and independence. A toddler move around un-aided to explore their home or garden. This kind of toy increases mobility and co-odination and instils a love of exercise.
Wheely bugs are fun toys encouraging small children to be active, as well as building motor skills. The bugs have easy to grip handles and casters that allow children to move and spin. As confidence and mobility improve, the child will learn to maneuver around obstacles. The photo shows the Prince Lionheart Wheely Bug, Ladybug, Bumblebee and cows.
I really like the Wheely Bugs, but there are other options on the market. Little Tikes make a Ladybug Pillow Racer which is soft and stable, with four caster wheels for safe cornering. It can be ridden, laid on, or cuddled, with the added bonus of being washable.
This gorgeous Ladybug ride-on toy will give hours of fun and activity. It has a sturdy wooden base and has multidirectional casters for mobility. Made with high-quality materials, it has a soft sponge layer for comfort, a wipe clean surface, and rounded corners for safety.
Ladybugs are like bears - they hibernate in the winter. The collect together in large groups and sleep through the cold winter months.
Huggable Ladybug Toys
Ladybugs are brightly colored and incredibly cute, so, not surprisingly, they inspire lots of lovely toys for babies and toddlers. The toys shown here are soft plush and very huggable.
The soft, plush Count and Hug Bug has six legs and flapping wings, so it is easy for baby hands to grasp. It has 3 buttons on the back playing songs to introduce colors, numbers and shapes. It also has a motion sensor that plays fun sounds.
Ladybugs or ladybirds?
In many countries, they are called ladybirds or Our Lady's Bird, after the Virgin Mary (Our Lady) who was often depicted as wearing a red cloak in early paintings, The spots of ladybird were said to symbolise her seven joys and seven sorrows
