The Laura Bush Jigsaw Puzzle Featuring the Scottish Terrier Presidential Dogs.

When President George Bush was to celebrate his 60th birthday in 2006, First Lady Laura Bush wanted to present him with a special present and she came up with a very special one indeed. The Bush family has always openly shared their love of working jigsaw puzzles or that they are puzzlers and she went to British artist Howard Robinson and commissioned a picture of the White House and the presidential dogs, Scottish Terriers, named Miss Beazley and Barney.

There is another famous puzzle linked to the Bush family featuring the face of the dog named Barney. That puzzle is a wooden one, crafted from hand-cut mahogany created by a company called ELMS Puzzle. ELMS puzzles are all cut freehand without the aid of computers and can be made from your own photos. This particular puzzle featuring Barney is a different puzzle that was a gift to the President from the staff at the White House.

On this page, you will find more information about the puzzle that Laura Bush had designed for the President, a White Mountain jigsaw puzzle called Presidential Pets, and a source for purchasing your own copy of Presidential Pets.

Artist Howard Robinson said, "never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that the President of the United States of America would be sitting in Camp David doing one of my puzzles."

President George Bush's Favorite Jigsaw Puzzles

Feature artwork by British painter Howard Robinson.

President George Bush's puzzles of choice are jigsaw puzzles depicting the artwork of British painter Howard Robinson. Because he enjoys Mr. Robinson's puzzles, First Lady Laura Bush had Mr. Robinson paint the President's dogs, Miss Beazley and Barney, in front of the White House for his 60th birthday.

Mr. Robinson is a British artist whose artwork has been featured on many products including china, record covers, posters anad puzzles. His jigsaw puzzle, At the Waterhole, which features wild animals, was shortlisted in 2007 for the Ravensburger puzzle of the year competition.

A resident of Scarcroft, Leeds, Mr. Robinson was, needless to say, thrilled to have the opportunity to paint the Presidential dogs.

Now you can own your own copy of the puzzle that was commissioned by Laura Bush From Howard Robinson for the President's 60th birthday gift. This a 550-piece puzzle with a finished size of 18 inches by 24 inches.
