Gifts for Lego Geeks - Clothing, Clocks and more
Presents for Lego Lovers
Are you looking for a LEGO gift for a building block geek? I've compiled a list of themed gifts that will make construction toy fans of all ages happy!
There's a great choice of brick and minifig clocks, there's fun storage, LEGOo mugs and kitchen accessories, and of course clothing.
I'm an adult LEGO convert myself. When I was young I only got to play with my cousin's sets on a Sunday (I know, poor me.) So now I'm a Mum I've found that I enjoy building stuff a lot, it's a now a family hobby.
These gifts work well for students who aren't quite ready to grow up completely and for anyone who enjoys a bit of retro fun.
Books and Calendars
LEGO Brick Calendar - A buildable calendar
This buildable LEGO Brick Calendar is my top gift recommendation. I have this calendar myself and it's a great idea. It works well for brick fans big and small.
It's great for teaching younger children to recognise their numbers (you don't get number bricks in many sets.) And I've used it with my kids to talk about days of the week and months of the year so it's good for teaching children about the calendar.
It also makes a cool desk accessory for adults which is how I use it. If you have one of these on your desk everyone will want to stop by and play!
You get bricks printed with numbers, days of the week and months of the year and you can rebuild the calendar each month so it's correct.
You also get two minifigures to pop on top of your creation.
New LEGO Books for 2013
This is volume 2 of a very popular book for LEGO fans. It gives you step by step instructions for building lots of cool stuff with the bricks you already have.
A great gift for someone who already has a collection of bricks.
Beautiful LEGO is a coffee table book for fans. Everyone will enjoy gathering round to look at the awesome pictures of amazing LEGO sculptures and models.
Do you know a LEGO fan who likes architecture? With this book they can built mini versions of famous landmarks from around the world.
A LEGO paper calendar makes a good gift for Christmas or at the beginning of the year. Each year there are a number of new licensed calendars to choose from to tie in with popular LEGO themes like Star Wars, Friends, City and themes of the moment. So if you know someone who is a big fan of one of the themes then the corresponding calendar could be a good choice.

I'll just highlight a calendar that I think makes a good gift for fans who love model building, or are nostalgic about the toy of their childhood.
This calendar will appeal to a wide audience. It features amazing models that have been built by top LEGO designers.
A perfect gift for someone who doesn't have time to sit and read a book but will enjoy looking at cool models for a year.
Clocks and Watches
Lego Alarm Clocks
These alarm clocks are great fun. A lot of them are labelled as kids alarm clocks. Well yes, kids will love them. But so will lots of adult fans - they need to get to work on time after staying up late playing with their toys :-)
The minifigure alarm clocks are particularly fun - it's like having a really big LEGO minifig to play with, that also tells the time. Note that the figures are a lot bigger than many people expect, the different characters are different sizes but most are around 8 inches tall (more if they have big head gear.)
Lord Vader is a classic choice. My four year old son wants one (and will likely get one for Christmas) and his uncle would love one too (they love to share Darth Vader lines from the movies.)
My younger son has one of the kid-sized buildable watches which includes a minifig (Yoda - he's a Star Wars fan.) They use a neat design where the watch strap is made from pieces that clip together so you can adjust the size and change the pattern on the wristband.
Lego watches are very cool. They come with links that you can use to create different patterns in the wristband, so yes you get to play with and build your watch.
They come in different sizes and a huge range of styles.

Clothing and Accessories
A t-shirt makes a useful and fun gift for an adult or child who likes to dress casually and loves their bricks.
This shirt comes in youth and adult sizes so it would work well as a father and son gift idea.
Yes, I've gone for Star Wars again, but it's such a popular theme which appeals to a wide age range.
Mugs and Kitchen Gear
Build on Brick Mug
With this Mug you can build something while you wait for your coffee to cool down!
Note that the LEGO bricks are not included. But that shouldn't be a problem if you are buying a gift for a LEGO fan.
Toys and Games
Build and Play Board Games
There's a brilliant collection of imaginative Lego games available. We have several of these and they are great for Christmas and other family get togethers. And for groups of Lego fan friends.
You get to build the board and pieces before playing the game. Some of the games include tiny 1 stud microfigures which I think are very cute.
Here are a few of our favorites including a lovely Lego chess set for the grown ups.
It's creationary, but with LEGO. We have this. It makes an excellent family game.
Bits and Bobs
We love this guy. Shake him and he'll sort your Lego for you using trays with different sized holes. Clever.
Lots of my kids friends have this (and yes, my kids want it!)
A Unique Personalized Minifig
A really fun idea is to make a personalized minifigure for the person you are buying for. Do they look like one of the themed characters, if so you could start with one of those. Maybe you know a Jack Sparrow look-a-like or a Hermione Grainger?
Otherwise, the City and Friends themes offer a range of characters with different features and skin tones - you can either go with the classic yellow or choose a realistic skin tone.
You can buy individual minifigs - you might need to mix and match to get just the right look. You can also go to a physical store where you can put together a figure and accessories from a selection.
This is a really fun thing to do. It works well for birthdays, Secret Santa and milestones such as graduation or getting married.
