LoL Elmo ~ The New Elmo Toy

Updated on December 1, 2012

Who and What is Lol Elmo

Lol Elmo is the hot new preschooler sensation that SESAME STREET has just released. This Elmo is really different from the Tickle Me Elmo in that he does so much more ~ he moves and laughs, and he tells funny jokes too. The more Elmo giggles, the more he moves around (Lol Elmo shakes around and rocks back and forth).

Lol Elmo comes with a squeaker toy named Dorothy Fishbowl for even more fun.

Do You Remember the Original Tickle Me Elmo?

Made famous by the hugely popular children's television show, Sesame Street, Tickle Me Elmo was released in 1996. When Tickle Me Elmo first entered the market, it raged across the country. Parents literally fought in stores over these toys.

The unexpected demand caught the manufacturer off guard; there was no way to produce enough of the popular dolls.

When there is low supply and high demand, the price rises, dramatically. The toy entered the market at a cost of $28.00, however, because of the low supply, the cost soon skyrocketed. There were reports the doll was being sold for $1,500.

This year, the manufacturer brought Tickle Me Elmo back. The price is higher than the intro price back in1996, however it is quite a bit lower than the $1,500 price tag that it eventually hit in that year. Today, you can find it on Amazon for $120.00.

When squeezed, Elmo chortles. When squeezed three times in a row, Elmo begins to shake and laugh hysterically.
