Mario Kart - Best Family Video Game
I have been playing Mario Kart for over 30 years. I love racing games, and Mario Kart is the one I've been playing the longest. Mario Kart is a video game that is exclusively on the Nintendo game systems. As a kid, I played Super Mario Kart on Super Nintendo constantly, trying to find all the short cuts and trying to figure out the best ways to use the different items. The strategy I came up with was to skip getting some items because the one you have will help you get to the finish line first.
The characters in the game have evolved from the original eight (Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Koopa Troopa, Yoshi, Donkey Kong Jr., Toad, and Bowser), to the Nintendo Wii's version of Mario Kart which allows you to choose from 24 characters or utilize your own Mii.
Today, I play Mario Kart with my family on the Nintendo Wii, and still love it as much as I did when I was a kid. Some of the classic courses are even available across the different systems and are fun to play with the new characters. The best part is the 4 person play and personally, I love using the steering wheel with the Wii remote. My current favorite courses include Bowser's Castle, Sherbert Land, and Delfino Square. Probably because I get around these race courses pretty well. My kids tend to like, Cocunut Mall, Maple Treeway, and DK Summit.
Another great feature with the Wii version is the ability to get online and race against other players all over the world. The Nintendo network does a great job of keeping track of a player's skill level and matching players near the same level together.
All in all, this is one classic video game that is fun to play alone or with the family. And as far as racing games go, it is still the best in my opinion.

Soon, Nintendo will release its latest version, Mario Kart 8, for the Wii U platform. Mario Kart 8 is scheduled for release in April 2014 and will provide some interesting racing alternatives. When playing this video game the wheels, in my opinion, are a must have, but are not necessary.
I love using the wheels with Mario Kart Wii.
