How Much Fun Can Your Child Have With Melissa and Doug Floor Puzzles?

Melissa and Doug floor puzzles are plenty of fun, that is for sure! I still remember how fond my sons were of jigsaw puzzles, particularly the giant ones that they worked on the floor. We did not have the pleasure of owning any Melissa and Doug floor puzzles but we did own two large floor puzzles -- one that was an underwater scene and one that was a space ship. They worked those puzzles, over and over and over again.

I am not sure what it is but there is simply something special about floor puzzles. If your child does not already have one, then he or she should. When I was doing my research for this page, I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of floor puzzles. They seem to be fairly priced to me.

This page is dedicated to the top quality floor puzzles produced by Melissa and Doug. I like their concern for your child's safety and encourage you to read about their Safety Statement at Melissa and Doug Jigsaw Puzzles.

On this page you will find the top five Melissa and Doug floor puzzles as ranked by Amazon's customers' purchases. That is, these are the five bestselling floor puzzles as of February 16, 2009. You will also find some reviews, links to more information about Melissa and Doug jigsaw puzzles and links for purchasing them through Amazon and eBay.

I wish you and your child Happy Puzzling!

A 48-Piece Floor Puzzle

AMAZON CUSTOMER REVIEW:

"Unlike small table-top puzzles, this one is large enough for a group of little ones to work on together. We often have 2 to 4 kiddos crawling around the floor working on this puzzle. Each piece is sturdy enough that a small tyke can sit on it (on carpet) and not bend it. Also, the colors are just as vivid as they look on my computer screen. Quite lovely. The kiddos get so excited at the sheer size of these puzzles that we have several of them, some several years old and still in good shape. Your results may vary, but we've found them to be very worthwhile investments."

Melissa & Doug Around the World Floor Puzzle

A 48-piece puzzle.

Recommended for children aged 6 - 9 years old.

Amazon customers love Melissa and Doug puzzles but L. Berger of Boston called this one extra special. She liked the giant circle and the theme of Children Around the World, the later which she says her 6-year old was learning about at school. She says that whenever they finish this puzzle they have a conversation about the kids from other countries, which adds a really nice extra dimension to working this puzzle. Her 4-year old grandchild also likes the puzzle but his understanding of the image is a bit more limited.

Some kids just love big things and these puzzles are very big. I like to add words to the back of the pieces to add more literacy to the environment. For example on the firetruck, I might write the word firetruck to each piece. It will help when the pieces get mixed up and when the children want to write about firetrucks they will know where to go to find it.
