Solution

Step 1: Cast Fume Spitter and immediately sacrifice it, targeting your opponent's Shivan Dragon

Step 2: Cast Aggressive Urge on your Precursor Golem, which will replicate the spell for each Golem Token. You'll draw three cards (Throne of Geth, Battlegrowth, and Grim Affliction)

Step 3: Play Grim Affliction on your Precursor Golem, which will replicate the spell for each Golem Token. This will put three new +1/+1 tokens on your Primordial Hydra (now 7/7), and three -1/-1 tokens on your opponent's Shivan Dragon (now 1/1)

Step 4: Cast Spread the Sickness on your Precursor Golem, which will replicate it again. This will put three new +1/+1 tokens on your Primordial Hydra (now 10/10), and three -1/-1 tokens on your opponent's Shivan Dragon, killing it. Your Primordial Hydra will also now have Trample.

Step 5: Attack with Primordial Hydra to win

    I had slightly different solution:

    1) Cast Aggressive Urge on your golem to draw 3 cards.

    2) Cast Spread the Sickness on your non-replicated golem, saving both black and green mana. After replication kills the first replicated golem, stop the timer.

    3) Cast Grim Affliction on golem as instant, save one green mama.

    4) After resolution, hyrda is 9/9. Attack. Opponent will block with Whelp.

    5) Cast Battlegrowth on your hyrda, giving it trample for the win.

At first thought this didn't work but then realised the whelp only gives +1atk not def that's why you win

It's because of the ability "Proliferate" which is on Grim Affliction and Spread the Sickness, which says (quoted from the game) "for each permanent that already has a counter on it, you may put another counter on [sic] that type onto that permanent". So the dragon already has a -1/-1 counter on it, and gets a new -1/-1 counter whenever a spell with Proliferate is used. Since the spells targeting the Golem are tripled the Proliferate effect is also tripled, adding 6 -1/-1 counters to the Shivan in total (or it would if it survived the first 5). The Hydra also gets new +1/+1 counters from the same effect.

It works, but I really don't get why????!!!

You cast a 'grim affliction' on your own golems, which says it should target a different one of each of those golems.. but instead it targets the dragon.. wtf? logics anyone?.. then you cast 'spread the sickness' on your own golems, killing them.. but why the f- does the dragon get another set of -1/-1 counters?? I don't see ANY logic in this..

Just used this and it works... When I saw him mana tapping to get his whelp up to 10 I thought I missed something, but because of trample you do 2 damage to the whelp and 8 damage to Krenko winning the match

If the Whelp had First Strike you'd be right, since he'd kill the Hydra before the Hydra could do any damage. But, as Clarkkent said above, the fact that the Whelp doesn't have First Strike and the Hydra does have Trample (from having 10 counters on it) the damage goes through and kills Krenko. Your Hydra would die too, but it doesn't matter at that point.

Actually, this should still succeed regardless of the bat to Furnace Whelp. The toughness of the whelp will still be 2 meaning a total of 8 damage should still trample thru meaning a successful challenge solution.

This solution doesn't work. After Shivan Dragon is killed and Primordial Hydra gains Trample, Furnace whelp will defend alone when you attack. Furnace Whelp then uses mana to generate +1/+0 8 times to get to 10/2 and completely block Primordial Hydra's attack causing the challenge to be failed. The only way i could see this strategy winning the challenge was if all of Krenko's mana were tapped at the start of the turn then he'd have to defend with all 5 Goblin tokens and Furnace Whelp at 2/2 and 3 damage would get thru making the challenge a success, but that is not currently the case.
