Operation Despicable Me 2
When it was time to introduce the classic game Operation to our kids we chose the Operation Despicable Me 2 Silly Skills version. We are huge Despicable Me and DM 2 fans and it seemed like the perfect fit.
Let me tell you a little bit about this version of Operation. The premise here is that minion Stuart has accidentally eaten some unicorn fluff that has caused various problems throughout his body. In order to get well he must be operated on. Poor guy.
It is up to a team of surgeons to fix the problem and remove various pieces from Stuart. The pieces include a banana, nutty noggin, jelly joint, unicorn fluff and more.
The game comes with a pair of tweezers so each surgeon can delicately remove the pieces one by one from Stuart. One mistake and a loud noise and buzzer goes off and it is the next person's turn. It can be almost as much fun setting off the buzzer as actually getting a piece out, at least at first. It quickly becomes a contest to see who has the steadiest hand.
This game is rated for ages 6 and up. My 6 year old had a little bit of trouble with it at first and she still doesn't have quite the success that my husband and I do. It is a bit frustrating to her but I also see that it is helping her fine motor control and that she is improving.
The Despicable Me 2 theme is a lot of fun. Anyone familiar with the movies will love this spin on Operation. Besides the game itself there are collectible minion figures included in the box. There are 4 in total out of a possible 50 available throughout various games. Some of the included minions are exclusive to the Operation game. You can also win the minions for extra points. Including the minions is a clever way to increase sales of games and a lot of fun for collectors.
