Order of Chaos

Updated on July 8, 2013

Order of Chaos

The Yugioh Order of Chaos booster pack was released on January 24, 2012, and it consisted of tons of XYZ Monsters and others that were completely new to the game. Some of the effects of the new monsters were unheard of and there was nothing even close that resembled some of these new monster's effects. The Order of Chaos booster pack is great for beginners because some of the best cards are only common (easy to get).

You will be seeing this card a lot in all of my lenses because I can't get over its effect. Shocktopus is very common, so finding this card will be very easy. With 1600 ATK and 800 DEF (good stats), Shocktopus has a nasty effect that makes it stand out. When Shocktopus is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, Shocktopus equips to the monster that destroyed it (Shocktopus) by battle. The monster equipped with Shocktopus has its ATK reduced to 0, and it cannot change its Battle Position. 99% of all monsters attack in Attack Position (not Total Defense Shogun), so having 0 ATK while in Attack Position makes that monster a big target. When that monster is destroyed by battle, the damage is equivalent to a direct attack.

Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity

Wind-Up Zenmaity is a Rank 3 XYZ Monster with 1500 ATK and 1500 DEF. Once per turn, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card to Special Summon 1 Wind-Up monster from your hand or Deck. Also, when a Wind-Up monster is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card to bring that destroyed Wind-Up monster back to your hand.

Number 96: Dark Mist

Number 96: Dark Mist is a Rank 2 XYZ Monster with 100 ATK and 1000 DEF. You need 3 Level 2 monsters in order to XYZ Summon Number 96: Dark Mist, and this card will win you the first three battles with ease. Once per turn, during either player's turn, during the Battle Phase when this card is attacked or attacks, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card to half the ATK of your opponent's monster (in the battle) and Number 96: Dark Mist gains the same amount of life points that the other monster lost. Basically, Number 96: Dark Mist will always have more ATK than the monster it battles by 100 points until all of Number 96: Dark Mist's XYZ Materials are detached.

Number C39: Utopia Ray

Number C39: Utopia Ray is the monster on the front cover of the Order of Chaos booster pack, and it well deserves that place. Number C39: Utopia Ray is a Rank 4 XYZ Monster that requires 3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters, or you can simply use Number 39: Utopia as the only XYZ Material (and its XYZ Materials are added to Number C39: Utopia). Number C39: Utopia is the first card to be able to use an XYZ Monster as an XYZ Material, and Number C39: Utopia Ray is all clutch. With 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF (same as Number 39: Utopia), Number C39: Utopia's effect can only be used when you have less than 1000 life points. When you detach 1 XYZ Material from this card, Number C39: Utopia gains 500 ATK, and one of your opponent's monsters loses 1000 ATK (you get to choose). So, that is an extra 1500 points of damage to your opponent. A 1500 life point difference is a huge difference that will inflict a lot of points of damage to your opponent and possibly win you the duel right there.

Wind-Up Rat

Wind-Up Rat is a Level 3 Effect Monster with 600 ATK and 600 DEF. During your Main Phase, you can target 1 Wind-Up monster in your Graveyard. Then, by changing Wind-Up Rat to Defense Position, you can Special Summon that selected Wind-Up monster to your side of the field in face-up Defense Position. Wind-Up Rat's effect can only be used once while it remains face-up on the field, but you can use this effect on any Wind-Up monster in your Graveyard of any level.

Darkstorm Dragon

Darkstorm Dragon is a Level 8 Gemini monster with 2700 ATK and 2700 DEF. When you Gemini Summon Darkstorm Dragon, you can use its effect. Once per turn, you can destroy 1 Spell/Trap Card you control to destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field. Darkstorm Dragon acts like a Heavy Storm, and since you can repeatedly use this effect, it is a great advantage.

Kurivolt is a Level 1 LIGHT monster with 300 ATK and 200 DEF. During your Main Phase, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from 1 XYZ Monster. After that, you can Special Summon 1 Kurivolt from your Deck. You can repeat the process until you have three Kurivolts on your side of the field and the targeted monster has no more XYZ Materials.

Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon

Say that name 5 times fast. This dragon is a Level 5 DARK monster with 2200 ATK and 1100 DEF. The purple dragon can be Special Summoned from your hand when a monster you control is destroyed by battle or by a card effect. If your opponent thinks he/she can directly attack you, then they have another thing coming if you have Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon in your hand.

I love the artwork on these card games. I used to play Magic - the Gathering but don't really find time to any more.
