Playmobil has a range of other Pirate Ships of various sizes and themes. The Playmobil Blackbeard's Pirate Ship is an older set that you may still be able to get hold of.

We love the Red Corsair, it's a smaller pirate ship which makes a great starter set. It comes with pirates and accessories and of course it's red, my older son's favorite color! The ship actually floats on water too so you can take it in the bath, paddling pool or water table.

Playmobil has a whole range of Ghost Pirates and the Ghost Pirate Ship is the main set in that range. It comes with lots of ghost pirates and accessories and raggedy sails.

The Playmobil Underwater Motor is a very cool addition to a Playmobil Pirate Ship. Lots of fun in the bath or in a small pool in the backyard in the summer. It attaches to the Large Playmobil Pirate Ship and the Playmobil Ghost Ship as well as other boats from Playmobil. It easily attaches and detaches.

Sometimes pirates need to drop anchor on their ship and take a smaller vessel to shore. The range includes a number of smaller pirate boats and rafts. The treasure transporter includes two soldiers - enemies of the pirates, and they are making off with the treasure - I doubt the pirates are far behind!

This is our favorite Playmobil Pirates set. My 3 year old got it for his birthday from his Grandad. What a brilliant choice! It comes with a raft and two pirates, a treasure chest with lots of accessories, two pirate figures and a giant Octopus.

This is a cool set, with lots of bits and pieces. You can attach the treasure chest to the raft and come up with stories about how the pirates came to be floating in the sea. And the Octopus is a brilliant touch. You can even fill him with water so he can squirt the pirates! This set has been lots of fun and has been played with regularly.

I'm just updating this page and my older son is now 7, he's getting the three-headed serpent for Christmas this year to add to his collection. He also got the Stingray for his 7th birthday. His interest in Playmobil is not showing any sign of going away, he still loves imaginative play.

There's a Playmobil Pirates Video Game for Nintendo DS. My boys are going to love this (do you think they'll let me have a go?) It gets good reviews. You get to travel on a pirate ship on the Caribbean.
