Power Wheels - Not Just For Kids

Updated on May 12, 2014

Modified Toys

I'll bet you know about Power Wheels toys by Fisher-Price, but did you know you can modify them?  You can take that Barbie Jeep, or that Jeep Wrangler, or even the Motorcycle, and turn it into the fastest one in the neighborhood.  How do I know this?  My husband did it.  Enjoy the ride!

What He Did

My husband got your basic Power Wheels Fire Jeep really cheap in the neighborhood one day. My son was 5 at the time, so you can just imagine how much he loved it. After it broke a couple of times, my husband was inside the thing, trying to fix it, when he thought; Hmm, this doesn't look to hard, I'll bet you can modify these things.

He took a tour of the internet and found out that there were many people dedicated to doing just that. Modifying their children's Power Wheels.

The only thing my husband has done to my son's at this point is change the gearboxes and put bigger motors in it. You can give them extra batteries, you can find missing parts like grills and tires, it's amazing what you can do. Fisher Price doesn't recommend it, and you can't really find one website for the parts, but if you know where to look, you can change just about everything on your child's Power Wheels Vehicle.

Parts

Here's the parts you'll need if you decide to do this.

Some of these are pretty funny. You won't believe how fast some people get these things to go.

Did you know you could do this? Did you like this lens? Whatever comments you have, I would love to hear them.

You know, I can just see husbands buying power wheels for the kids and then showing them how to play with them. Delightful!

Anyone who doesn't have fun with this either isn't a kid or never was one!

My two oldest daughters had one of these jeeps when they were little. I didn't know you could do this to them. Interesting!

"I need some stinkin' help." ~ Loved this. I know it's probably a good thing I didn't have one when I was a kid...I woulda been dead, or even worse!
