Push Cars for Toddlers
What are the best push cars for toddlers?
Push cars for toddlers make good outdoor toys. Both my sons played with push cars from about 12 months old. My older boy still loved playing with these cars at age 3 and older. So they really are a great investment.
My youngest son is now almost 2 and is pictured opposite.in his Little Tikes cozy coupe - which he loves. With two boys I have watched them play with several different push cars at playgroups, toddler groups, friends and relative's houses so have written some personal reviews below.
There are several versions of push cars for toddlers. When you are choosing push cars for toddlers here are are some features to look out for:
Storage - toddlers love putting things in and out of storage in push cars, so some storage under the seat or trunk often is a good choice.
Push bar / handle - kids love to pushed around and around outside, so sturdy push bar for adults is good. Some cars now feature a push handle that can be folded into a handle to carry the car. This is great for taking the car out and about and for easier storage too.
Steering wheel - toddlers will love to pretend to steer around.
Horn - A horn is good for toddlers to warn others when they're coming!
Easy to get in and out of - Toddlers like to do things themselves so cars that have a door or are easy to climb in and out of are good choices.

Push Around Buggy
My son's grandma has a push around buggy and this has been a really popular toy with all the grandchildren. They love being pushed around outside, there's a horn to press to let people know you are around and you can start the car with the ignition key. There's a storage space at the front where toddlers will love to put things in and a steering wheel where they can pretend to drive. It's recommended age is between 1 and 3. We put my youngest son in it at around 9 or 10 months! My eldest son still loved to sit in and be pushed around in this toy at age 3
More Push Along Cars by Step 2
The latest push along car by Step 2 is the whisper ride buggy.
It is slightly more expensive than the earlier version above but has some great features which includes a handle that can be folded underneath the body to help simplify transport and storage. This is great for putting it into your own car to take out on a trip or storing it at home.
A lovely blue car with a sleek automotive design with soft poly wheels to help provide a smooth, quiet ride.
It also features storage under the hood and cup holders one for the child and one for Mom or Dad.
This is the pink version - great for girls or boys who love pink too.
These cars also feature a seat belt for safety.
Little Tykes Cozy Coupe
The Little Tykes Cozy Coupe is another push car that is at grandma's house. She was given this second hand and it's still in excellent condition. However my kids loved it so much we now have another one at our home for our youngest son. The good thing about this car is they can push themselves around by using their feet.
They also used to have 3 at the toddler group we used to go to and they were always taken with kids using them.
I think my sons like it because it's like a proper car with a roof. Some of the versions have a push handle (but check on the product descriptions before you buy). Some of them have an ignition switch and an open-and-close gas cap so its good for imaginative play as they get older.
Perhaps one of the downsides noted in some reviews is that its difficult to put together. But I think the effort put in to make this push car will be well worth it in the long run. My boys were first interested in these at about 12 months and my eldest still played with it at age 3.
Little Tikes Cozy Truck
Another option by Little Tikes is the cozy truck.
Is great for imaginative play as it has features including a flatbed with a drop-down tailgate with rugged "off road" wheels, an opening gas cap, and a steering wheel with a working horn.
The drive door opens and closes so little kids can get in and out.
Little Tykes Ride and Racer
The little tykes ride and racer is recommended push car for toddlers between ages of 1 and 3, but again at age 3 my eldest son still played with this toy at toddler group we went to. This is a popular toy at this group. The boys love using their feet to push themselves around on it. It's also great for younger toddlers as the bar at the back can be used as a walker and they will love pushing the toy around. The seat is very low so it's easy for toddlers to get on and off. It can be used inside and outside too.
Tikes Mobile - Red
This can features a folding push handle. It locks into position so that you can push your toddler around. When you have finished it folds and can be used as a carrying handle so is easier to transport (perhaps you want to put it into the car or store away at home). It has 2 cup holders, one for mom or dad, the other for the child. It has a large storage area under hood. Toddlers will love to put things in this and push their stuff around.
It also has a seat belt for safety and quiet ride tires.
Radio Flyer Cars
This is a toy my sons haven't road tested but it looks like an excellent toy and the reviews for this toddler push car are excellent. Firstly it's really nice looking red and shiny push car. It has a dashboard with sounds and electronic lights. The car has a cup holder, a clicking key, clicking gearshift, opening and closing doors and a honking horn. There's push handle for parents, this can be shortened for kids to push the car around and goes down to resemble a rear spoiler when the child is in control. There is even storage room behind the seat, where toddlers will love putting things for their journey.
This definitely sounds like the ultimate push car for toddlers.
