Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse - Why Not Let Your Kids Have A Ride Everyday?

Updated on August 1, 2015

Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse - A Riding Toy That Will Last!

You should certainly get the Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse for your kids if you can still recall the fun you had with such a toy back in the old days when you were young. A horse is one of those classic toys that easily holds a kid's interest no matter how many years have come and gone. That is why this spring horse by Radio Flyer is one of the best-selling toys around. Parents can recall the fun they had with such a toy and now, their kids too are having the same enjoyment out of it.

For this spring horse, it comes with electronic sounds that will be triggered with the riding motion. You can have the option to switch it off if it is bothersome, but where kids are concerned the neighs is what makes the ride more interesting. The frame is made of steel with a wide base to minimize the risk of it tipping over.

For added safety, the springs are covered with removable fabric. This prevents tiny fingers from getting painfully pinched, especially when someone is riding on it. The horse itself is realistically designed with beautiful features. That means you can leave it in one corner of your living room and you wouldn't feel like it is an eyesore.

The Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse will offer lots of fun to your kids all year round. When it's too cold to go outside, it is also one of those toys that can help them to burn off some energy. Your kids will form a great attachment to this horse and you will see them riding it everyday!

A Similar Riding Toy

The Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse is currently out of stock at the time of writing on Amazon. As an alternative, check out the Blaze Interactive Riding Horse instead. It is also an attractive riding toy that gets great reviews from parents.

You get three different kinds of riding action with this horse: walk, trot and gallop. Then, there are the sounds as well to simulate a real horse. Feed it a "carrot", you get that chewing sound. Is it any wonder kids will be fascinated with this horse?

You should also watch the short clip below about this toy and why it could be a better model than the Liberty.

Why The Radio Flyer Blaze Interactive Riding Horse Could Be A Better Model

Compared to the Liberty model, the Blaze is more interactive in terms of design. The riding stages makes it different from other spring horses as the sound changes as your kid walks, trots and gallops as he sits on the horse. There is also a carrot accessory which he can use to feed his horse too!

The Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse Old & New Models

One point to note is that the Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse has had a slight change of design sometime in 2008. Therefore, the version that you will get today will not look exactly the same as the older model. The current model has a plastic saddle instead of faux leather. There are also no integrated steps for mounting and only one stirrup position instead of three for the pre-2008 model. The cones at the base are also no longer part of the design. Some people have complained about this, especially during the change-over in 2008, when what they ordered did not match their expectations.

Therefore, you will need to be aware that some retailers may have yet to change their product description for this item to match the latest model. The changes in the design are probably necessary to keep the cost down because the more features you want to have, the higher is the price you need to pay. So, in a way, it is probably better to keep the Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse within an affordable range and discontinue some features so that more kids can enjoy the fun it brings. And judging by the newer consumer reviews, more importantly, the changes in design have not taken away the enjoyment kids have out of this toy at all.

More Options For A Spring Horse

Below are a few options you can consider apart from the Radio Flyer Liberty Spring Horse. Most of these items come highly recommended by parents and they may also be available with free shipping. For a more comprehensive list of spring horses and latest prices, you can go to Amazon.

This one is also for the younger kids. But the difference with this one is that you can convert it to get a small spring horse from a rocker.

My cousins had one, and I loved going to their house to play. I have always loved horses. Great toys! :)
