How to Reset PlayStation Network Password

Resetting your PSN

Did you forget your Playstation Network (PSN) password, or would your simply like to change it?

If so, here are step-by-step instructions to help you reset your password online, or via your PS4, PS3 or PS Vita.

These instructions assume that you know the following information:

  • Email address associated with account, and have access to it
  • Date of Birth associated with account


Reset PSN Online

To reset or change your password online, do the following:

  1. Visit playstation.com
  2. Click Sign In
  3. Click Forgot Your Password
  4. Enter the email address associated with your account, and confirm your date of birth
  5. Follow the instructions you receive via email to create a new password

If you would prefer to sign into your account to simply change your password, do the following:

  1. Visit sonyentertainmentnetwork.com
  2. Click Manage Account
  3. Sign in with your email address and current password
  4. Click Account Details
  5. Click Change Password
  6. Enter your current password, and then enter a new password and confirm it
  7. Click Save

Reset PSN on PS4

To reset or change your password on your PS4, do the following:

  1. Select Settings > PSN > Sign In
  2. Enter your Sign-In ID, and then press triangle to select “Forgot Your Password?”
  3. Confirm your Sign-In ID and enter your date of birth
  4. Select Confirm
  5. Follow the instructions you receive via email to create a new password

To simply change a password you know, do the following:

  1. Select Settings > PSN > Account Information > Password
  2. If necessary, enter Sign-In ID and password
  3. Enter new password and confirm

Reset PSN on PS3

To reset or change your password on your PS3, do the following:

  1. Select Sign In on the XMB (assuming your are signed out)
  2. Enter the email address associated with the account
  3. Select Forgot Your Password
  4. Confirm your email address and enter your date of birth
  5. Select Continue, and then select Confirm
  6. Follow the instructions your receive via email to create a new password

To simply change a password you know, do the following:

  1. Select Sign In on the XMB (assuming you are signed out) and sign into your account, or skip this step if you are already signed in
  2. Select Account Management under the Playstation Network category on the XMB
  3. Select Password
  4. Enter a new password, and then confirm it
  5. Select Confirm

Reset PSN on PS Vita

To reset or change your password on your PS Vita, do the following:

  1. Confirm that your PS Vita is connected to the internet
  2. On the Vita Home Screen, choose Settings and then choose Start
  3. Choose Playstation Network
  4. Choose Sign In
  5. Choose Forgot Your Password
  6. Enter your Sign-In ID and Date of Birth
  7. Press OK to confirm
  8. Follow the instructions your receive via email to create a new password

To simply change a password you know, do the following:

  1. Confirm that your PS Vita is connected to the internet
  2. On the Vita Home Screen, choose Settings and then choose Start
  3. Choose Playstation Network
  4. Choose Sign In and sign in to your account
  5. Choose Account Information
  6. Enter your current password, and then enter a new password and confirm it
