Model Building as a Hobby

Model building is the hobby that never dies, and it is still as popular as those old days. This hobby including model train building, cars, aircraft, ships and even military vehicles are still as popular throughout the generation. Model building is both intriguing and appealing and is continue to flourish over the decades. These appeal to the individual's imagination and have continue to intrigue generation after generation of fans who continue to appreciate them.

With the advancement of technology, it has made many things that seem impossible in those days become possible in today's model building. Models like aircraft can now flying and able to controlled from the ground, model cars can be remotely control from a distance and with fast speed, model ships now can goes into water and control remotely with today's technology. All these can now be power by fitting with combustion engine, propeller or electric machinery and wireless remote control devices.

So, are you a model hobbyist? Have you heard of Revell? Revell is one of the famous manufacturers of scale plastic models for hobbyist in United States. Revell was started as earlier as 1945 with producing plastic toys with one of it first toys was a Toy Washing Machine. It later merged with Monogram which was initially making flying aircraft kits with balsa wood. Later the two companies were expanded into the plastic kit market. The two brands were then merged in 1986 under the brand of Revell and producing a wide range of plastic kits as well as diecast model. Their model kits are range from cars, motorcycles, trucks, aircraft and even engines.

December 17, 1903: Orville and Wilbur Wright made history over a century ago on the sands of Kitty Hawk, NC, when they successfully flew the flying machine that they had built. With Orville at the controls, it was the first time man had flown in a powered aircraft. Features: Launch track diorama and newly tooled figures of the Wright Brothers.

As the United States Navy's last propeller-driven attack aircraft, "Skyraiders" were designed as attack aircraft but were used for early warning pickets, night attack aircraft, and anti-submarine warfare airplanes. Distinguishing features of the "AD-6" variant included a low/high altitude bomb detector, a 14/30" bomb ejector and three dive brakes.

AD-6 Skyraider is a piston-powered aircraft and is combat-tough. The tough and versatile A-1 Skyraider was among the final piston-powered, prop-driven fighter aircraft produced just before the dawn of the "Jet Age."

The B-29 Superfortress was used extensively in the China/Burma/India theatre, the SW Pacific during WWII and later in the Korean conflict. Although it was used at low altitude over Japan, it was designed and built as a high altitude, long range strategic heavy bomber capable of carrying a 20,000 lb bomb payload. Defensive armament included 4 remotely controlled turrets, each utilizing two .50 caliber machine guns.

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber carried the name "Enola Gay" was flew by the Colonel Paul Tibbets who delivered the bomb, code-named "Little Boy" with 130 lb of uranium-235, to the city of Hiroshima, Japan, and caused extensive destruction.

      I'm not so much a hobbyist, I was looking for dollhouse kits, but the cars are so pretty that I might have to try this too, they look awesome. Great lens.

      I love to light my Models as well, it seems to give them more of a Life-like appeal. The SR-71 was a Hard one to Light up, the Jet was used for spy purposes; so lights were not really considered necessary!
