Risen 2 Attributes, Skills and Talents
Let's begin this Risen 2 Guide with Character Development. In Risen 2: Dark Waters, you don't have the choice of a specific race or class at the beginning of the game. In addition to that, your character has a predetermined name, the nameless hero. Classic. Your character will evolve with your style of playing. You can define your character Attributes, Skills and Talents. Attributes can be leveled up and developed by accumulating glory (glory is the experience (xp) of Risen 2), and glory is won by killing mobs and completing quests. This does not differ from your typical RPG game.
There are five big categogries of attributes: melee, magic, hardness, archery and cunning. All the attributes contains a certain number of talents you can develop, and skills can be understood as character specializations as they are only available when you reach a certain attribute level.
In Risen 2: Dark Waters, you can also level up your attributes with specific interactions with questgivers. For example, use your intimidation or persuasion skills in important situation and the game will encourage you to continue by leveling them up.
Teachers and Trainers
Some abilities, like kicking, sneaking and pickpocketing for example, must be taught by teachers scattered around the islands. As you will probably understand, some abilities are there to complement your style of play and some are more important than others. In Risen 2, you consistenly have to make choice between two or three options and a lot of these options use your hard-earned coins. As example, we can think of trainers, improving weapons to deal more damage, buying supplies to survive longer, etc. Teachers are usually faction related. For example, the inquisition has the better teachers for firearms.
Risen 2 Combat Strategy Guide
It is important to understand that Combat isn't easy in Risen 2, partly because the developer wanted it that way, and partly because combat is not designed as in other popular rpg titles. In fact, the camera isn't always easy to control and counter attacks requires a lot of timing, but you'll certainly get the hang of it after some time. As all the monsters tend to be pretty agressives and spammy on attacks, you need to manage your health and analyse your counter-attack opportunities. There are a lot of strategies and combinations you can use for counter attacks such as kicking, throwing sand or salt at the opponent, using your parrot to distract the enemy, etc. The developers came up with some great ideas.

Risen 2 Monsters Strategy Guide
The Sand Devil
The first thing you need to know about the Sand Devils in Risen 2: Dark Waters is that they are only effective in numbers. They always spawn in packs of at least five of them. If you have difficulty dealing with them at the beginning of the game, try circling around the pack, go forward, kill one and get back to circling and dodging. We can call that strategy a hit and run, pretty classical. That way, the Sand Devils will not be able to surround and overwhelm you, and you will be able to take them out pretty easily. If you still have trouble dealing with them, try a faster weapon and use your dodge and block abilities. You can also use range weapons as a strategy to kill them effectively without getting in trouble. The Sand Devils are one of the quickest monsters in the game, so watch your back!
The Leviathan is one resistant bastard and you got to watch out for his charge attack and it's claws. A good strategy to take him out is to wait for him to charge you, dodge him and them hit him hard in the back. Rinse and Repeat. Trying to block the leviathan's attack is not efficient at all as he is both fast and strong. Focus on fast weapons and fast movements if you want to take him out easily.
The firebirds in Risen 2: Dark Waters, as the Sand Devils, will attack and charge you in groups. They are fast but not that resistant to physical damage. You will need to use your dodge ability in the right direction if you want to survive these encounters without too much damage. In fact, a good strategy is to dodge towards it when the Firebird is about to attack. This way, you will be able to hit the Firebird and start a combo in his back. Watch out for the other members of the group, stay fast and quick if you don't want to take too much damage. More content for our Risen 2 Strategy Guide coming soon! Stay tuned!

Risen 2 Factions Guide
We will begin this Risen 2 Faction Guide with the Inquisition. This faction was present in the first Risen and make a return in Risen 2. The Inquisition has changed from the first game. As magic diseappeared from the world, the Inquisition can no longer use it to fulfill their objectives.
All in all the Inquisition is organised very strictly. They're pretty straight forward. That's pretty much why they look serious, have short haircut, wear uniforms and walk around like they are in the military.
Let's continue our Risen 2 Guide with The Natives faction. You will usually find the Natives running around in the Jungle of the islands or working as slaves or workers in the cities. There are different types of Natives. We have the Warrior, who is a melee warrior. There is also Shamans that can be seen as the bosses of the tribes and that cast magic at you when they get angry. And then you have the hunters, who are usually smaller than the warriors. The natives in Risen 2 generally wear wooden plates armors.
Risen 2 Legendary Items
Gotta find 'em all!
Legendary are a great addition to Risen 2. They can be found around the islands each legendary item and give a permanent buff to one specific skill. The locations of most of the items can be determined by reading in-game books and then looking for it in the world.
Without guide, it can be a great and fun challenge to try to find the items. I really loved the experience, it is basically like a treasure hunt around the game. There is a total of 20 legendary items to find in the game. I am going to show you all to find all the Legendary Items in Risen 2: Dark Waters
Bottle of Memories
Effect/Buff = +10 Cult
When you arrive at the sword coast and you visit the village, head straight for the center of the village and go toward the merchant named Kapua. She will have the item (the bottle of memories) in her selling inventory.
Effect/Buff = +10 Shotguns
To find The Cannonball, go to maracai bay and in the temple. There you will find a merchant that will actually sell you the cannonball. If you don't have a good persuasion skill you'll have to complete some quests for him (getting stuff from the beach). If you're persuasion skill is high enough, he will sell you the cannonball right away. It basically gives you +10 to shotguns.
Comb with one tooth
This Legendary Item will give you +1 your blade skill.
When you go to Caldera, enter the crystal fortress and pick the lock. You fill find a map in a chest. You will need a good lockpick skill to acquire this map. If your skill isn't high enough, bring some potions. Then leave the fortress and head down to the beach. Watch out for the various monsters running around the beach. Enter the cave on your right when you go down the stairs (the only cave anyway). Enter the cave and dig on the X in the sand. Open the chest, here is the Comb with one tooth!
