Skyrim Defeating Sigdis Gauldurson

Updated on November 25, 2011

Skyrim Defeating Sigdis Gauldurson

In Skyrim, the hero must find the final piece of the Gauldur Amulet fragment. The final pieces lies with Sigdis Gauldurson in Geirmund's Hall. Naturally, the hero must defeat Sigdis Gauldurson. This will guide the hero in providing tactics to defeat Sigdis Gauldurson, and in navigating first Geirmund's Hall puzzles and monsters to reach Sigdis Gauldurson, and then navigating Reachwater Rock to piece together the three fragments of Gauldur Amulet.

Skyrim Geirmund's Hall Puzzles

In Skyrim, the hero will usually find Geirmund's Hall as the third destination to obtain the Gauldur Amulet fragment (the other two being the Saarthal excavation site and Folgunthur). Geirmund's Hall is more straightforward than the other two, but does involve solving the Geirmund's Hall puzzles. The first puzzle is the usual Skyrim "put the correct symbols on the stone pillars" puzzle. The second Geirmund's Hall puzzle is slightly more cunning. First the hero must pick up the Archmage Geirmund's key from his body to unlock the door. There is a draugr scourge beyond this door, so be careful! Next with the hero facing a bridge that has been drawn up, look behind the hero for the second lever. Activate the second lever to lower the bridge. It may be useful to destroy the draugr wight beyond the bridge from the area containing the table of the Archmage Geirmund before coming up to lower the bridge.

Skyrim Tactics to Defeat Sigdis Gauldurson

In Skyrim, Sigdis Gauldurson may be the hardest of the three brothers to defeat. This boss is armed with a bow and the annoying and frustrating thing is that he can teleport and cast mirror image on himself. When he teleports, he or they will end up on pedestals opposite the stone sarcophagus. The hero is faced with choosing one of the Sigdis Gauldurson to hit. Not only that, Sigdis Gauldurson knows a Shout which will knock the hero off his feet. And Sigdis Gauldurson just keeps disappearing and appearing.

In Skyrim Geirmund's Hall, the key to defeating Sigdis Gauldurson is to commit to one of the Sigdis Gauldursons and just launch ranged or melee attacks at it. Powerful ranged attacks may be better due to Sigdis Gauldurson's ability to shout. When the hero sees the health points dropping, then that is the real Sigdis Gauldurson. If not, then aim for the other Sigdis Gauldurson. When the real Sigdis Gauldurson is defeated, all the other Sigdis Gauldurson will be defeated too.

Once Sigdis Gauldurson is defeated, search him for the Gauldur amulet fragment. Also there is a chest here which will randomly drop the amulet of Mara (needed for marriage in Skyrim).

Skyrim Reachwater Rock Defeating Sigdis Gauldurson Again

In Skyrim, once the hero obtains the three Gauldur amulet fragments, a location called Reachwater Rock (near Karthspire) will be added to the map. Go to Reachwater Rock, and use the emerald dragon claw (from outside to inside - bear, fish and snake) and the ivory dragon claw to open the two gates to reach the inner sanctum of Reachwater Rock. Place the three Gauldur amulet fragments on the altar. To the hero's horror, the three Gauldurson brothers appear to fight the hero again! And yet one more time, the hero must defeat Sigdis Gauldurson!

In Skyrim Reachwater Rock, each of the three Gauldurson brothers will each take his turn to face the hero again. It is best to use the Shout of Valor to bring in one of the ancient heroes to help the hero here. This is especially so for Sigdis Gauldurson, who is now able to spawn three other identical images of himself. Again use the same tactics as explained above - go for one of the Sigdis Gauldurson. If health is dropping, concentrate on him. If health remains the same, focus on another Sigdis Gauldurson. When all the three Gauldursons are defeated, the hero will be able to get his hands on the re-assembed Gauldur Amulet.
